Chevy's in Redding. Normally, I like their food, but this particular restaurant was just nasty and dirty. The table cloths and chairs were sticky, the menus were smeared with food, the ladies room was all dilapidated and dirty, too. When the food came, the flautas tasted awful like they had been fried in rancid grease. I got really sick later that day, too, even tjough I didn't eat more than the first bite. NEVER going back there.
I mentioned it to the waitress, but it wasn't her fault. The only decent thing about the visit was that we had great wait staff. I feel sorry for them for having to put up with the nasty conditions there. I bet they lose a lot of tips that way if people don't understand.

A place called Country Kitchen (not the chain, this was a mom and pop) on the way to the Grand Canyon in Arizona - this was years ago they may be out of business, but everything was awful. The fries tasted like month-old fryer grease, and fish, and chicken. The sandwich was gross, the canned soda was warm.
My dad gave me a piece of advice once (this was the only place open that day, is why we ate their in spite of this warning) -
Avoid places that advertise "Home Cooking" - as most people's home cooking sucks.
He threw in "not like your mother's" too (she was a great cook) but that's not the key part.

I had a similar experience in Florida. This restaurant was advertised as a great seafood restaurant but the food was sh*t. The waiter had the nerve to be snooty about it too.
Another time I was in a New York restaurant and ordered a steak medium rare. The steak came out well-cooked--gray, and so hot it was like they cooked it in a microwavee--i sent it back pointing out that i ordered the steak med rare--they brought me another that was practically uncooked. I left immediately.

Cheesecake Factory. My wife and I went there while on our honeymoon in Chicago and ordered lemon herb chicken. We got something that looked like KFC doused in clear gravy that was extremely gritty and cold. This was all accompanied by a sad looking salad and some wilted, oversaturated with butter, vegetables. I threw a piece of the chicken to the pigeon sitting next to us (we were sitting outside) and the bird pecked at it, squawked, made a few coughing noises, and flew the hell out of there. We asked for something else got a flavorless pizza made with artificial cheese and tomato paste. Plus they tried to bill us for both items, claimig that since we had taken bites out of both, we had in effect agreed to pay for both. That didn't hold too well and so they finally agreed to take off the price of the lemon herb chicken. We both got food poisoning that day too and were sick for 2 days after that.

99 Restaurant, Prime Rib Dinner....served with so much Au Jus on the plate---the potato and vegetable were taking a bath in it. It is supposed to be served on the side in a container! Plus the meat was over-cooked.......Ruined my whole meal!

Jack in the box.
Tried it once and got sick.
After about 3 years, gave it another try. Got sick again.
Five years later, one last try. Got sick.
Haven't touched their stuff since and have NO intention to ever do that again.
Had to laugh when a few years back they tried to get people that had never tried them, by appealing to some character called 'Herb' who according to the ad had never tried them.
Made me think that Herb must be one smart guy! ;-)
