Same here, but I think of it as an instinct because nothing else has ever helped me. I have never liked large crowds or big places like Wal-Mart or malls. If I isolate myself from those places and stick to small stores with familiar faces just around the corner, I'm fine. It's just the way I was born. My mom told me that when I was a baby, I did not allow anyone to hold me unless I had been exposed to them for a consistant amount of time. Instinct says to keep yourself safe. Some of us have a higher sense of what that is.

The concept of hell is something that organisations like the Spanish inquisition conjured up to try and control people. Many people that have had near death expierences say that there is no hell, only a review of how well we have done in our life. I cannot conclusivily proove that there is no hell, but I do not think that there is such a thing. What is the piont to a place of eternal suffering, it won't make the evil gooder; they spend too long burning. Just because people had an out of body expierence and traveled below the Earths crust, it doesn't mean that it was due to the fact they were there to be punished eternally. It was simply the result of a ramdom direction they went when they left theyre body. As for existance after death. No one can say if there is an afterlife or not; but if there is no such a thing as an afterlife, you will not exist inorder to regret that there is no such a thing. So why worry. When you think about it, it is totally irrational. If your not actually dying right now, I suggest that you get help immediately. Snow Man

You probably have anxiety or panic disorder with agoraphobia. See your doctor. There are some real good treatments including medications, and certain types of therapy, that can make a real difference. The sooner you get it treated the easier it will be. Good luck!

P-
You need to get out. I know it can be difficult, but if you stay inside and keep to yourself, you may become that creepy guy that the neighbors tell their kids to stay clear of when you get older.
Besides, it is quite unhealthy [mentally] not to interact with others. It is how we grow as individuals... we see what we like and don't like in others and it helps to shape who we are.
Please- go outside and meet others. Start by just being friendly to cashiers and other service people you come in contact... slowly but surely you will find it is easy to meet new folks and interaction ain't so bad!

i hear ya...i used to have panic attacks every time i went out my front door. i even had a hard time keeping a steady boyfriend/girlfriend because of it. i think what helped me was a mix of meditation and just getting out there. i realized no one would hurt me if i didnt let them. i'm still getting over it but somewhat helps to work in the public. look at me, i work for a nation-wide corporationa and i still freak out sometimes. just imagine yourself ina protective bubble and tell everyone that gets too close to back off. if all else fails, you can try therapy. thats why its there.
