I mean I can, but I feel like I'm missing out, and I am getting a big beer belly and I want to lose it

I quit drinking about 5 months ago, I did it by drinking a bunch freaking out over some stupid $h!t and just making a complete *** out of myself. The next morning I had to work at this ski mountain and had alot of time to reflect on it (which was weird because I usually blacked out when I was wasted), and I said thats it no more drinking for me and I haven't touched anything since that night. I also talked with my wife about how much we thought I drank and how often and it was something like a twelve pack a day/night for a week straight, for a couple weeks at a time is alot of beer in my opinion. I am not going to sit here and tell you that there weren't times when I wanted to drink a beer or two, I had those days too but stayed determined not to drink. I didn't do it with AA or Al-Anon or any counseling which by some peoples standards means I am a "dry" drunk, but that is just a bunch of $hit anyways. If you are determined enough to do it, then you'll do it and if so good luck.

I am assuming your young and all your friends like to go out drinking, which is common thing to do when your younger and obviously you know alcohol is a lot of empty calories...

Perhaps when you go out drink less and make better choices. Or cut back how many times you go out drinking. There is no reason you can't go out and be social and have fun and you can still have fun without drinking alcohol, I think it becomes a problem when people think they only have fun or are fun after they have had a couple.... But there are a lot of other things you and you friends can do when you go out besides go drinking... Be creative.

If its a problem then there are programs out there for you to attend if its just a wanting to still have fun and not drink so many calories then its not that serious.

You'll quit when you are ready to think about taking care of yourself and giving yourself a healthy future. Be safe and care about yourself.
