Rottweilers have been purebred dogs for hundreds and perhaps thousands of years. This is a link to the AKC's history of the breed:

Rottweilers are descended from the cattle driving dogs of the Roman Empire. As the Romans left, some of the dogs stayed and bred with german sheepdogs. These dogs were developed and improved by the butchers & cattle drivers of Rottweil, Germany. Rottweiler was orginally called Rottweiler Metzerhund, literally Butcher's dog from Rottweil.

The breed was offically recognized by AKC in 1935 and by Kennel Club in London in 1966.

A rottweiler IS a breed of dog - it isn't one breed mixed with another.

I believe a rottweiler is a purebreed. I was not mixed with anything. Most dogs were mixed somewhere along the line to create that type of dog, but not a rottie.
