My dog doesn't like fireworks and other loud noises either. I just keep her in the house during 4th of July weeks and she hides under my feet and shakes. I don't think you can do anything to alleviate her phobia but if it is really bad you may want to talk to your vet. I have heard that some dogs can be prescribed anti-anxiety drugs during times when you know it will be a problem.

I also have a dog that is scared of any loud noises. The best thing that worked for her was taking her to get acupuncture (yes, I know it seems strange but it really has helped.)

You can also talk to your vet about getting some antianxiety medications for her if you want to go that route.

we had a yorkie while i was growing up that was very afraid of thunderstorms. i think just like any human they are afraid of thier own thing. we tried everything to help him but nothing helped other then turning a light on and staying up with him. i now have a chihuahua who is scared of the vaacuum and the lawn mower, the only thing i can do for him is hold him and he is a bit better about it.

I read a study, which said that the only thing that will help with your dogs phobia is another dog to comfort him or her.

My mother has a lab with the same issues. Her vet gave her a slight sedative (just enough to keep her calm, not knock her out). That seems to work.

I have a dog that was afraid of thunder and firecrackers. We got a CD of thunder storms and played it low until she no longer has this fear.

My dog does the same thing. I just try to soothe him when it happens. I don't leave him home alone when I know there will be firecrackers. Dogs just hear better then people.

I have heard that Dramamine works fairly well.
Consult your vet before administrating.
