Disgust at George Bush and his cronies stealing the United States, figuratively (i.e., politically) and literally (impoverishment of the nation, likely insolvency of the treasury (tax reduction; feckless spending). And the concentration of wealth in a relatively small clique, with the middle classes losing ground or, at most, standing still.

I tell my friends in America to buy a wheelbarrow now to hold all those worthless dollar bills later...

I doubt it if they are well respected. I know most have money. Many live or retire to other nations because they get more bang for their dollar. For example, if I go back and live in the Philippines right now, I can afford to get a beach house, a couple of maids, a chauffeur, a Gardener and a cook, plus a mistress or two.

Because of the almighty dollar, most of the Americans that are doing this have been immigrants or married to one. Having the power of American money , living in another land with helpers is attractive. When you're older and less Mobile it can be help full.

I am as American as one can get. I am indigenous and love this country more than most. My wife is from the Philippines. If the money is right , we'll stay here, if not we're leaving to the Philippines.

Because the "quality of life" in this country, isn't what it used to be.

All that is important here is money. What ever happened to just living and being happy with what you have, instead of keeping up with the Jones.

We are slaves to credit and materialism and this govt. If I could, I would move to somewhere, like Costa Rica and live a more simple life.

Where you are not judged by how you look or how much money you have in your bank account.

Who is well respected that is leaving? Madonna? Gweneth? oh well.... Studies found that France has the highest percentage of millionaires leaving their country. They have extreme tax laws that punish the wealthy up to 70%. They also have a tax (can't remember the name of it) that can actually come out to be more than you earn. Since they have enacted their aggressive taxation of the wealthy french, they have lost over a 128 billion in taxable dollars. Never had a poor man give me job.

Because strange days are afoot in America and those with the means and the desire to move to other countries are doing so. It reminds me of people fleeing Europe in the days leading up to World War II.

You mean like Alec Baldwin?
He PROMISED to move, but never did. Can we sue for breach of contract?
As for the Q... what's your proof?
First I've heard of this.
If your statement has merit, then I pose this Q for you:
Why are so many people from all around the world trying to come to America, even if they have to sneak in?
