What a great question. I happen to have been part of a study done at Purdue University. Our engineering department developed a "licking" machine that simulated a human tongue. It took 364 machine licks to get to the center of the Tootsie Pop. We also conducted a strictly monitored study using human subjects and found that out of our 20 or so volunteers it took an average of 252 licks.

Buy a bag of tootsie pops. Get willing friends and relatives to count.

Don't expect to get the same number from each test -- it will vary due to the pop, the people doing the licking, and a gabunch of other factors.

(Why do people keep asking this?)

All I can say is as many licks as needed until you get to the center.

that all depends on the size of the tootsie and the amount of pop

Hey, Mr. Original, before you ask your next question, do a search and you will see that this one has been asked 5000 times.
