"it just didn't work out!!"...don't you think...I mean it is like a death she had to go through the stages of grief just like he was dead....Don't you think that's a better reason than we just could not get along???

How very sad. Both the former husband and the wife are probably struggling with feelings of guilt. He, for burdening with a problem that is totally beyond his control and not his fault. And she, for leaving him, when it was just too much for her to handle after she vowed to marry him, come what may.

So, for your friend, the honest answer is "I hung in as long as I could but our relationship just could not survive through some rough (or difficult) times" but that gives away more than most people are comfortable with telling so "It, unfortunately, did not work out." is I guess brief and to the point without having to explain what is clearly none of anyone's business.

Actually, I prefer the excuse that things just did not work out instead of her husband becoming disabled and therefore she left him. When you get married, it is through sickness and health.

This seems like a rhetorical question. Quite honestly though...any reason is reason enough to not stay with someone if you're not right for one another. I'm not sure one reason is any better than another reason. I do, however, feel that one breakup can be worse than another. That's entirely different.

The part I find strange is "left her husband" so if you get sick and become disabled, she will leave you too because she can't take it??? Til Death do us part. SIckness and Health. Guess I have different Values
