My son's father is color blind and am simply wondering what is the likelihood that he will be also. He is 18 months old, has been to the eye doctor and he said that everything is normal, but I still worry about it.

sara91 - Considering that you were complaining about this bigmac answering all of the questions stating "bigmac rocks," why would you stoop to his level if he annoys you so much?????

There is a difference between color blindness and color differentiation. Color blindness is when you can see white and black and everything else is shades of grey while color differentiation is when you see colors but it is hard to differentiate certain colors. Many males tend to have this problem. Usually they will be able to distinguish basic colors like red, blue, green, brown, etc. but when it starts getting to purple, orange, indigo, etc. they start having problems. I have the same problem and learnt about this when I went for my eye exam. Nothing to worry, it is just that many males are not color dominant. Maybe that is why we don't like shopping. :)

Color blindness is a recessive trait, so if you don't have anyone on your side with color blindness, your son probably will not be.
