Yes. We are taught to not cover our bodies with tattoos, piercings, etc. but we also have free agency to choose whether or not to follow these teachings. I got mine when I was inactive from the church for 15 years. I wish I hadn't but I also don't regret them as they help remind me how far down I was and that I don't want to be there again.

Yes you can. I know members of the LDS church who have tattoos. Most of them served in the military before joining. A few others got them after already being members.

Yes you can. Most Mormons with tattoos got them before they were members of the Church. Church leaders highly discourage people from getting tattoos. But even if a member of the Church got one, it would not be enough to be excommunicated from the Church.

We are taught that our bodies are temples. A respectable person would not tag a church. If you are considering getting a tattoo, I would advise against it. If you already have, then it's all right. We all make mistakes. We just repent, live with the consequences and move on. Members of the Church do not get kicked out because they got tatoos.

It's called free agency, and every person is allowed to make their own choices. Some say it's like tagging a temple, others think of it as artwork. I'm LDS and I haven't decided yet on the tatoo front, but I think it's between each member/person and God.
