The rain water is safe and very high quality water. It was just distilled out of surface water and recondensed in the atmosphere.
The problem is what it landed on. Your roof has bird droppings, wind-blown dust, zinc (from flashing and nails) and possibly lead on it. You can use chlorine or boiling to kill bacteria from the bird poop, etc. But eliminating the heavy metals is the bother.
On a small scale, add alum to help the metals separate out and let it settle in a drum. Take the clear water off the top a day later without disturbing the bottom. Add chlorine or boil for the bacteria. Run through a Brita style carbon filter. Not the most cost-effective way to treat for any remaining dissolved heavy metals, but it will reduce the concentraions.

You should filter the water because of pollutants, and boil because of bacteria. I have a link on how to make a filter, but I would be careful. If you live somewhere there is a lot of air pollution, you could be drinking some of those pollutants.
And bobochriss, that would be distilled water wouldn't it?
Distillation is the process in which water is boiled, evaporated and the vapor condensed. Distilled water is free of dissolved minerals and will kill you if that is all you drink! You need regular water.

Well, get a little bit of rain water in a big bowl, put a small bowl in the center, put serain wrap over the big bowl, and put a small rock on the wrap in the center. Place the console in direct sunlight. The evaporated safe water will drip into the small bowl, though not much.

Rain water is as safe as water gets. All drinking water is rain sourced water. Most air pollutants are taken in through breathing rather than drinking rain water. Rain droplets form at high altitude and therefore at a lower air pressure. Virus's die at lower air pressure faster because their internal pressure is greater than their external pressure and are more likely to die from internal disruption. Most air pollutants because of their mass and density are at lower altitudes.

chlorine is the best for disinfecting water - boiled water can become contaminated as soon as it cools. Chlorine has a lasted disinfectant residual. That's why public water systems use chlorine - to keep your water safe.

You don't have to do anything. As long as it has not had a chance to pick up leaves or other ground debris, it is safe to drink just as it comes out of the sky.
