1) In 1933, we went from a constitutional government to a public policy one - thereby supercedeing all immigration policy cases to date and the 14th amendment is reinterpretated that anyone born in the USA is a citizen. No president from that point on signed any executive order to correct that and Mexico will not respect anything less than a constitutional amendment.
2) in 1965, Ted Kenndey got a bill passed that took us off the quota system of immigration to a merit one - thereby having no limit to the numbers that can come legally.
3) in 1975, Carter ordered all deportations to stop.
4) in 1986, Reagan announced we lost control of our borders and gave amnesty with the promise that immigration laws would be enforced.
5) mecha successfully has Mexican immigration classified legally the same as Cubans and are refugees from an communist country thereby breaking the promise our laws would be enforced.
6) In 2000, two cuban defendants are tried for deportation before the supreme court and they once again state that immigration is not a legal question, but a political question, and since Congress will not act they hereby rule that only felons can be deported (that's why you see the roundups now of only felons first).
7) in 2006, in reponse to a house bill for enforcement only, A Day Without Immigrants protest is organized by a PR firm that is used by both Bush and Fox to change people's minds that open borders are the only way to go. In fact Bush never signs an order to protect our border and only asks for volunteer states to give them impression we cannot protect ourselves and therefore must erase our border, no matter how many Americans are killed by the Mexican army and other militants. The event wakens up America and 500 bills already have been created to stop illegal immigration as a direct result of it. Many people call and it's revealed the plans to take states back to Mexico, something that will not stop and is fueled by illegal immigration.
8) in 2006 the supreme court upholds deportation of a man who has been here for 25 years with a family who has previous deportation orders but who is not a felon upholding the wishes of an angerd nation. Again a political not a legal decision.
9) The Senate passes a bill that would make everyone in the world an american citizen no matter where they come from including opening the door to vote and further extend a better constitution to illegals than citizens paid for by the citizens
10) America goes off the wall. The house enforcement only or nothing starts.
And that's where we are up to today. I have read economists articles that illegal immigration will eventually have our tax rates up to 95% taken out of our paychecks to support the welfare state.
That's my 25 cent tour.

Because they are the backbone of the American workforce. Hard workers who'll do the jobs that most Americans won't. Besides, America is supposed to be a cultural melting pot, remember? Ethnic cleansing never did any good for any people.

I think the illegal ones should be deported. It's unfair to those who went through the proper channels to become legal american citizens.
