What is an atom? What are atoms made of?

Atoms are the basic building blocks of ordinary matter. Atoms can join together to form molecules, which in turn form most of the objects around you.

Atoms are composed of particles called protons, electrons and neutrons. Protons carry a positive electrical charge, electrons carry a negative electrical charge and neutrons carry no electrical charge at all. The protons and neutrons cluster together in the central part of the atom, called the nucleus, and the electrons 'orbit' the nucleus. A particular atom will have the same number of protons and electrons and most atoms have at least as many neutrons as protons.

Protons and neutrons are both composed of other particles called quarks and gluons. Protons contain two 'up' quarks and one 'down' quark while neutrons contain one 'up' quark and two 'down' quarks. The gluons are responsible for binding the quarks to one another.

An atom is made of two parts, the nucleus and the electron cloud. The electron cloud has the electrons, which are negatively charged, while the nucleus has the protons which have a positive charge and the neutrons which are neutral. The number of protons determines which element the atom is. The number of electrons matches the number of protons in a neutral atom; if the number of electrons is more or less than the number of protons, it is an ion.

Protons, Neutrons,Electrons and the center is the Nuclius.
The Protons have a positive charge and Neutrons have a
negative charge. Electrons are rapidly moving particles circuling
an atom. Good luck with the bomb Kim Jong Il. LOL.

Are you a school drop-out? Every 10th grader knows this.

Or are you an oldie who were taught old syllabus which did not have modern science as a subject?

Everybody will answer this question correctly except you.Why don't you do some night school and finish your education.

Or are you trying to pull our legs?

there's like little things in there, that spin around and stuff, like hydrogen or something...you could run your car off an atom for a million years if you did it right...
