OK, until Yahoo fixes the e-mail (I believe about a million people have asked about that, so I'm glad that the problem I'm having is not because of a fault in my set-up), who can tell me how many tots there are in a bottle of whisky? By the way, that doesn't mean I'm planning to polish off a whole bottle before they get the e-mail going again! It's something I've always wanted to know.

Obviously, it depends on the size of the tots. Most pubs are now using the larger 35ml measure for single shots of spirits so a 70cl bottle would give you 20 shots and a litre bottle would give you just over 28 shots.

Can't say I've heard of the word "tots", which is surprising considering that I co-manage a bar! Over here in Ireland, the law states that you have to serve spirits in multiples of 35ml, so in a standard 70cl bottle there are 20 measures. In England (I'm not sure about Scotland or Wales) spirits are served in multiples of 25ml, meaning you get 28 measures to a bottle.

Anyway, enjoy your Scotch - I'm guessing it's Scotch since you spelled Whisky without the "e"!!

What the hell is a tot?

I have heard of a shot but not a tot?

A shot is one ounce so if it is a 32 ounce bottle there would be 32 shots in it. Each sold to you for $4.50 each shot and the bottle cost around 20 bucks. So for each bottle about $144 but have pay for ice and mix so you make around 115 bucks per 32 ounce bottle.
