I have no problem with Mexicans. I think they are great. They have a rich, colorful culture.
It makes a huge difference if a person has papers or not. Why should it surprise anyone that a nation would want to control its borders? Unless we have borders, we are not a nation. It seems so logical to me that I can't understand the confusion.
By the way, I am a US citizen working legally in another country, China. My husband is an African. I have no problem with immigration, as long as it is legal. I feel for people who risk everything to come to the US illegally. I can only imagine the situations they are trying to escape. However, illegal immigrants hurt everyone, most of all themselves. They hurt other Mexicans other nationals who want to immigrate legally. They hurt my husband because it becomes more difficult for him to get a visa. They hurt themselves because they have no rights and they perpetuate a system that allows people to hire them at unfair wages.
I don't want to punish any illegal immigrants. I'm sure if I were in their shoes, I'd want to do the same. However, I would also understand why the country would want to deport me, and I wouldn't cry foul when I was caught or threatened with deportation. I mean, if you were caught with your hand in the cookie jar when you were a child would you actually think you had a right to protest whatever punishment your mom laid out? You knew you were doing something wrong and if you were caught there would be consequences. My students used to say, "My bad," when they were caught doing something wrong, and I really respected that. I despised it when a student would get righteous when we both knew they were in the wrong. I have to admit, it makes me angry when illegal immigrants get upset that they are being held to the laws of the country they want to live in. If they can't respect the laws of the country, or try to change them through legal channels, they have no business living in the country. As an expat, I have to respect the laws of the country I live in. If I don't, I can expect to be deported or worse. I see nothing wrong with that.

Yeah? God's children can go sit n read the bible and specifically reference the 'give a man a fish' part. Cancel welfare! Any future assistance to Mexico takes place IN mexico, under heavily monitored conditions to prevent fraud and chronic dependency.
Anything else is unacceptable. No sale on the teary-eyed sob-story, here....there's 110 million people that live in Mexico, they can damn well united and build up their OWN economy...
Illegal immigration's illegal, and increasingly, more and more americans want to see the practice stopped dead in its' tracks.
Since Mexican citizens comprise the largest percentage of illegal aliens in america today, dealing with their country first is the appropriate choice. A strong, economically independent Mexico is a laudable and plausible goal, and the sooner they spend their efforts in THAT direction instead of trying to finagle 10 million more dollars out of the US economy, the farther along we'll be.
Audit the Border Patrol, put enough people on staff there to do the job effectively, build the border fence, and get other countries to help us get mexico up and running. That'll fix 80-90% of this.
They apparently need some kind of 'help', so 'help' we shall...

I am not against Mexicans, I am against illegal aliens. There are Hispanic people that entered this counter legally. That have done as required and belong here. Where as you have those that enter under the radar, not only is this not good for them, but it's not good for this nation. Even when people from other country's enter this nation, in New York in the 1800's. After getting off the ship, they had to give there name and the country they had just come from.

Realise, that the illegal immagrints will work for less money, which puts our citizens out of a job, because the citizen will demand at least minimum wage, whereas the illegal will work for what they can get. This drives wages down, keeping everybody here legally amongst the poor. Remember when Dad would go to work at one job, while Mom stayed home and took care of the kids and house? Remember how dad would pay the bills on his single job, and there would still be money left over for other things? Now both parents work two jobs, and barely get by while the privledged few live like royalty, and look down on us from their "Ivory Towers", and treat us like ****, make lawss that take our rights, and limit our horizons.

Really? Mexicans are ppl? Good one. The issue I like is illegal immigrants and the fact that they are here illegally. Legal immigrants, in my opinion, deserve more rights and instant amnesty before all illegal immigrants. Stop with the hate and race card. All illegal immigrants are of other races besides Mexican. Let us try to keep illegal immigrants from being labeled under a specific nationality and race. It only divides ppl who want to see both sides of the issue and not be led ignorantly into a one sided debate.

Angel, when people don't follow laws, chaos ensues. It's not about hate or racism, as you are implying.
We need people to pay taxes, participate as citizens, vote, and be part of the legitimate economy. Also, immigrants must be screened, especially now, given 9-11.
Essentially. a good country demands order. People must come here legally. From about the 1890s-1920s millions came from Europe, but they came legally. Many were screened out--diseased people, criminals, etc. We don't want the U.S. to become chaotic like a Third World country. Many of those countries are disasters because of corruption.
This is the First World. We'd like to keep it this way. People here have fought many wars and died to preserve our way of life.
This is how we do things here. Come here legally, or be deported.

your a pretty diluted person and somewhat racist yourself to include just Mexicans in your question. the fact is Americans have no problems with other races, it is anyone who is here illegally who we don't like, no matter their race. before you start your childish whining perhaps you should educate yourself, it will only be a matter of time before terrorists use the Mexican border to enter our country, we need to know who is here, why they are here and what they want from us. be thank full we are a humanitarian society, many other countries would just shoot crosser on site and then start bombing the country from which they came, the crossings could be considered a threat to peace and an invasion

I love Ice-landers too but I don't want them moving into my backyard.
Why am I "against" Mexicans when I don't agree with breaking the law and having my culture changed so millions of people can use my country to pay for another country's lack of opportunity.
I pay for the all the SERVICES these people need but won't pay for through HIGHER MEDICAL COSTS and higher TAXES for police, fire, emt services, and EDUCATION for students that can't even speak the language.
Look at MEXICOs immigration laws and THEN complain about the US's...

...There is a heaven... that is right. But, as much as you'd like to think it was in the U.S.A. your wrong.
Citizens pay taxes...unfortunately. And it is a burden on each LEGAL citizen for every illegal alien.
Because the illegal aliens are living off the LEGAL ALIENS!!
Plus.. who the hell are mexicans.. or canadians.. or anyone else trying to jump ahead of those ALREADY waiting in line. That's unfair.
We have laws, and if you'd like to come here.. GREAT!! But, we ask that you do it the right way; the LEGAL WAY!!
If done so correctly...than, great! Welcome!
But, if you decide not to wait in line like the rest of them... than, get the **** out of my country!
(And yes, it is my ******* country because I was born here) Which by the U.S. Constitution, states anyone, no matter what race, color, nationality, sex, etc, etc...born on U.S. soil is a LEGAL citizen.. Aside from that, I'm 1/16th native..
But.. I will never leave.. Technically.. if any of me should leave, its whatever's left of the 16th percentile...which will stay here...
:)
