After death, If we can get attached to the physical or to lower levels, is their a restart button? Or do we have to wait for the higher us to come and find us by showing an alternate reality system previously unkown to us. Please, this isn't a judgement day or rapture question. Also, why was this existence so worth having?

I think the higher self will come and find us by showing an alternate reality system "forgotten" to us.
Everyday the light comes on about one thing or another and my existence continues to unfold without as much suffering. I think now the entire experience of my life was and is worth having.

Souls can and often do choose to return to the same physical existence over and over again. This can account for the feeling of deja vu. Suggest you read Home with God, the latest book from Neale Donald Walsch, author of the Conversations with God series. Very enlightening regarding the process of death and what happens after the death of the physical self.

The risks are many....pain, suffering, rejection, loneliness, despair, uncertainty, confusion, fear and many more. Similarly, the opportunities are many....joy, hope, love, truth, beauty, delight, imagination, happiness and again, many, many more. You don't really know why it is worth experiencing until you die, I think. But, you get to do it again and again until you have experienced the full range of human possibilities, which is, I think the key. It's all about the existence of free will that is so intimately tied to being a mortal human. It can be good, it can be bad, it can be both or even neither. It can be so many things and its all pretty much up to us within the range of possibilities we have selected for ourselves in each individual life. We exist, at least in part, to help provide meaning to the universe and it, in turn helps provide meaning to our own lives.

There are risks in human existence (the risk of pain, suffering, loss).
Why human existence?
--
The Christian God indicates that one reason why he created the Universe, was for life to exist, and for humans to exist.
Our Universe is His "art project"; that is why it is so incredibly beautiful. And our Universe is His "scientific and engineering" creation; that is why it is so full of science and engineering, and we are learning this as we crawl in his footsteps via mathematics, physics, cosmology and molecular biology.
Earth is boot-camp for humans to come into relationship with him, and then for our experiences to provide opportunities for us to grow.
We fulfill the purpose for which God created us when we choose to come into relationship with the Christian God (based on what Jesus did for us on the cross)... and then live in daily relationship with Him.
For a brief explanation of how to come into relationship with the God of the Universe, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/new/essence.html
Cordially,
John

Your soul is in human form to learn lesons. In every lifetime your soul/spirit experiences, more lessons are there to learn. Even in death, as your spirit wanders around, you are learning more, or are there to help others learn their life lessons. You reincarnate when it is time to begin another learning path.
