Can we 'gather signatures' to put a referendum or voter-drafted bill on the Federal ballot as we can at the state level?

THAT would totally change the political dynamics...

My heart bleeds for Wal-Mart....

I'm not asking 'what should it say', just is it proceduraly possible?

Pancha, I think you would have to wait and see what the bill said, wouldn't you?

As to the Constitution, I have read it and will look at it again. I just wondered if this had come up before. I vaguely have a memory saying that someone looked at this for another purpose and that a referendum could be voted on but would not be necessarily binding. Even then it could be a clear message, though. If no one knows, I will look into it.

This is an area where I am losing faith in our elected officials to tell us what our concerns are. I think we have to very clearly tell them.

No. There is no provision in the Constitution for a national referendum except for the election of representatives. Constitution isn't that long. Read it.

Corporate American makes all the decisions in this country.....

They are the 'puppet masters' to this govt.

You can sign all the ballots in the world, nothing will change.

Nothing short of a revolution will change this dynamic....

I don't think I have ever seen it done on the Federal level, I don't think it is allowed. But I think it would be a good idea, since the politicians can't make a dam decision. I'd sign.
