Does anybody have any suggestions on how to motivate a 9-year-old girl to lose weight? She already knows what she needs to do, she just lacks motivation. Thanks!

That is difficult.. You do NOT want to SHAME her into losing weight.. that is for sure. The ONLY thing that I can say is that she should be talked to about being overweight.. the health risks primarily. Give examples of health risks by being overweight. I think I would PLAY DOWN the part about being attractive to boys, etc. particularly at hesr being 9 years old.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

take her out, eg play sports, or take her and her mates out to play hide and seek, it always helps that parents get involved because to kids they will see it as well my mum/dad arnt doing anything so why should i. so if you encourage her and say well done with her achievements. it might be a good idea to take her to a park, where she can play or you as a family go out to the country sis for nature walks.

Are if you get in a big outdoor environment and hide something and then she has to go and find the clues to get it, but she has to work for them clues. (treasure hunt).

Bike rides are a good one shell never know shes loosing weight, but DONT go over board shes still young, try not to pest her about her weight too much, cause loosing weight is a gradually thing, results wont come over night.
Hope that helps. good luck x

Leave her alone -- you'll give her a complex. Instead of telling her to lose weight, find activities that will keep her busy. Play tag or go bowling.

Speaking as someone who was the fat girl in grade school, she probably hates herself enough without you telling her that you don't like how she looks. She gets that all day long at school, and hearing it at home will only make her more depressed and therefore less motivated. Try another approach: tell her that you are going out riding your bike (beach combing, taking a walk, playing baseball, whatever, just so long as it's active)and really want her company. She needs someone to be supportive. Are you caring enough to to that?

first of all you shouldnt be the one motivating her...when yr 9 years old you sure dont listen to other people,,, trust me give it some time, when she grows up she'll notice that other people look at her diffrent or treat her like not normal....motavation comes from within the person; not someone else....she'll lose wieght on her own....just wait
