I really don't want help but at the same time I do. I know I have a problem but I think it's my choice. I don't know what to do. I want to die, I think this is my secret way of killing myself. But then again I love life. I am very confused. There are two minds in my one.

Go speak to a psychiatrist or a mental health unit. They are required to keep it confidential and can only hospitalize you if you are a threat to yourself or others. It sounds like your weight is okay so I think you needn't worry about being hospitalized (although it might be the best place for you to get proper treatment/nutrition).

Below is a list of Eating Disorders clinics. Call one and ask them the location of a facility near you.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! I am so glad that you recognize that you might have a problem. You are not alone. Sometimes I think eating disorders is a control issue - because sometimes life is out of our control and it is the one thing that you can control - ie what you eat. I am not a professional that has the answers to this at all so you don't have to listen to me or anything but I am soooo proud of you for at least recognizing that you may have a problem and need help and I care even though I do not know you. I think you really need to talk to one of your parents and hopefully they will help you and not give you a bad time. Or maybe another relative that you are close to. Sometimes parents are hard to talk to and sometimes they do not see how serious the problem is or do not know how to deal with it.
Hang in there sweetie!

I'm glad that you want to fix the problem. Set a goal for yourself... only treat yourself with chocolate/junk food once a week, and only a small portion! Don't eat after 7 PM and try to fight your cravings with excersize, hanging out with friends (no eating!), or doing something you love. You might even find a new hobby instead of eating! Only eat when you are hungry and when eating, don't eat everything on your plate... eat until you are full, then stop!

Whatever you do, don't starve yourself or diet. Both lack daily vitamins and nutrients you need.

Also, it's hard to do this secretly and on your own. Talk to your parents and they can help serve well-balanced meals and maybe even make your whole family healthy! Good luck! =D

Thank you for posting your question. I hope that people take this question seriously and answer seriously. I will do my best.

I am hearing that you are struggling with a couple things
* Wanting to die, secret way of killing myself
- contradiction is you love life
* Want to get help, but then you don't

My suggestion is to find a trusted adult you can speak to and start receiving help (counseling etc). DO NOT, and I repeat, do not worry about what others think. What others think is their own thoughts and it does not reflect "who you are". Only you know who you are, so don't let others thoughts influence your decision on getting help.

I think you have taken a very good first step in getting this question out there - good for you, that is smart and you are a good person for doing so.

Continue to seek help and I have faith that you will turn yourself around positively. Good Luck.

An eating disorder is a painful way to die. And it is confusing: "is it a choice?" "is it a lifestyle?" "is it a disease?"

I don't have the answers, but I have a feeling it has a little to do with each.

I know I needed help, and I started seeing an eating disorder specialist. That DID NOT help me, as she seemed hung up on the old-fashioned notion that it was a "fear of food" I was suffering from.

To get help, it's best to try (at least) to figure out WHY you feel this way (Is it about control? weight? don't like to eat? fear of obesity? looking good? feeling "in charge" of your body?)... Do seek help, if even you feel only half-way like you need it. That's the half that counts. The half that wants you to be good to yourself.

There are up to 80% recovery rates for most disorders. I agree with the other person. Talk, talk, talk with someone you trust. Sharing your feelings with someone close who really cares about you will really help. He/she will be genuinly concerned for you to get well as soon as possible. Alternatively book an appointment with your doctor tomorrow. Start talking to a professional. Your feelings are so common. There are lots of us out there.

well, first step is admitting to it... you dont' have to tell EVERYONE about the disorder or about getting help...keep it to your fam and close friends... ask for their support and for them to keep it discreet. See a doctor or a specialist for your eating disorder... know that life is worth living... and there are so many beautiful things you don't want to miss... in addition, you should make a list of things you want to do in your life... it could be simple or one of your wildest dreams... write them down... then start taking steps to check them off.... you want to read more? go to the library or bookstore...find a book you're interested in...doesn't have to be a deep read, any book you want is good... take little steps...

good luck, if you need to talk or anything... mail me :)

you really should seek medical attention.Talk to your Doctor, it is confidential, therefore no attention.you really should see a counselor or something. It sounds like you may have a couple self esteem issues....don't we all.Everyone thinks they're to fat ,to skinny, ugly, to short, to tall, flat chested ,wiener to small, hair to frizzy, to straight, they got a hairy back...blah blah blah. You may fit one or two of those categories, but I'm sure you don't fit them all(at least I hope not). And trust me... there ARE people who definitely have it worse than you. The homeless, the mentally retarded, someone who is completely paralyzed. So please get some help, even if it is just talking to someone you trust, it's better than keep it all bottled up.
