My wife did this once with the car running and I didn't have a spare key. It was kinda funny.

I didnt actually lock my self out of the car.I left the car running to run in the store and left my dog inside it with the air running. She jumped on the window to bark at someone and she locked the doors.Needless to say she could not unlock the doors.I dont have onstar either.

We had rented a Town Car on a ski trip a few years back. While in Breckenridge,CO , we locked the keys in the car (it was running) it was cold and the snow was pouring down. I used a coat hanger to push inside the window and finally hit the doorlock button to unlock. Ever since, I've been neurotic about where the keys are and I try to carry a spare key.

That's happened at my school, when we've been working on running cars and someone forgets to roll down the window. (Rolling the window down first thing is shop policy and the first thing we're taught when we enter the program.)

Usually, everybody stands around sniggering at the poor, coffee-deprived fool who perpetrated the crime and THEN goes for the lock-picking set.

My great aunt has locked the keys in the car about 6 times in the past two years. It's always funny in retrospect, because nothing's happened to the car. You think she'd learn... ;)

Doubtless it will happen to me someday.

If I unlock my car with the key function, it will only lock with that same key function. If I lock it manually, the same applies. This prevents unfortunate surprises! What car, you ask? Hyundai Tucson GLS 4WD V6

Thats a free service to those still under Fords Bumper To Bumper warranty
And the service is also covered within Fords new powertrain warranty.

twice. I managed to open my explorer with a long screwdriver thru the door handle, and the T-Bird with my own antenna thru the window.
