A small amount of marijuana in your home or car can result in asset forfteiture where you lose one or the other. Why not confiscate farms and businesses that employ illegal aliens. Asset forfieture were a risk you know few people would risk employing illegals. And instead of costing money would result in a little tax relief for the government. Doubt would have to do it very often before employers got the message. What do you think? Property used in the commission of a crime? Farm or business? Hotel or Restaurant?

Wouldn't be an attack on small business sorry I used those examples. The portion of the business that employed illegals would be confiscated, so would be Wal-mart store but not all stores etc.

1) Forfeiture of property was supposed to be used on drug kingpins - now it can be applied to anyone with even a small amount of drugs. Another example of a law being misapplied by some people in our government.
2) There are already laws on the books to punish those that hire illegal aliens. The problem is the government CHOOSES not to apply them because that may appear "anti-business".
3) Throwing new harsh laws at a problem never solved a problem on their own. It just takes away some more of your freedoms in the long run.
Vote Libertarian - fairly enforce laws in existence

Sounds somewhat plausible until you consider that some of these companies are publically held, like WalMart. Those could not be confiscated. In the end it would end up being a war on small business. I'd say fine them--a lot--and that will get the message across. And put theme name in the paper so people will not patronize their business.

That's a bit extreme.
We don't want to become a police state and start shutting down business, after all small business is the engine of this economy.
But, I know for a fact, that imposing fines on business is very effective.
A friend of mine who owned a small business, an auto shop, mistakenly hired an illegal which provided him a false SS#.
All was well, then one day the "Migra" came to his business and of course discovered he was employing an illegal. He was fined $1,000.
After that he made it a point to always do background checks on people, before hiring them....
Imposing fines work just FINE...

I think it's a good idea, but realise, G W Bush is for the corporations, who do hire illegals, to lower their costs so that the privledged few who can afford to purchase, and own their stock can make even more of a profit, thereby allowing the CEO's of those corporations to make millions doing their job of acting like lords while the real workers go home every payday with out enough money to make it from week to week

the last thing we need is the government confiscating more property from its citizens. remember: odds are you are the descendent of an illegal alien in this country. why not help these people instead of persecute them?

u have to understand that business controls corporate america. They and our politicians have much to lose if they do that.
A few centuries ago blacks were bought to this country as slaves.
A few years ago Asians were bought here by companies to build railroad tracks.
Nothing has changed now except they bring software proffesionals here.
so corporations have become more greddy.

I agree. It is not harsh either. Of course I think you should live in a tent if you commit a crime in shackles, so go figure.
