You might want to consider a shade of grey. I know it sounds a bit boring but maroon and grey are rather nice together and there are some really forward looking upscale greys that could look 'tre sheik' if you pick the right ones. Trim out and accessorize in black or whites.
Maroon and certain pinks can be nice too.
I guess you mean in a bedroom? The above would be appropriate for that sort of thang.

Blue or green are fine but go with lighter rather than dark shades. Also have you thought of yellow. It would look spectacular with maroon. Paint it light golden yellow then put a gold faux treatment over that. Take some plastic bags from shopping, crinkle them up and spray metallic gold spray paint on it them "sponge" onto walls. It dries quick so you have to do it pretty fast. It is a very rich look with nothing rustic about it. Especially if you played the colour combination up around the room in fabric etc

Depending on the size of the room would depend on how it would look painted a dark color. Green (mint or even darker) would look good with the maroon. I am not sure about the dark blue but it would depend on the natural lighting and size of the room.

You'll be very unhappy with blue or green. It will be too much color competing. Go for a deep tan to light brown. It will be pleasing, classy, and masculine. You can introduce the other colors in an area rug or accessories, but on a full wall, it will be way too much.
