Some. Most home schooled kids study year round but you might slow the pace during the summer or find a less structured approach over the summer, like visiting museums, parks, historical places, etc.
Parents of kids who have the summer off should be signing their kids up for sports, summer school and/or assigning regular homework assignments of their own to keep them busy and continuing to learn.

Depends on the family and the child. Also, if it is a rigorous curriculum that you are using,...sure, a homeschooled kid would have the summer off! However, many homeschooled families do school year-round and take frequent breaks/vacations, similar to a typical year-round school.

We school year-round, so we spread "summer break" throughout the year. We have school for four weeks, then take one week off, with two weeks off at Christmas. During the summer, I'm a LOT more flexible - if we want to blow off school for the day and go swimming, we do. If the kids want to play with their friends - day off! I've found that I can cover a lot more in 38-40 (4-day - we take every Wednesday off, too) weeks than the public schools cover in 36 (5-day) weeks. So while we school year-round, we only have about 160 days of school each year (compared to the government-mandated 180-day public/private school year).

Actully Yes they need the summer off....I am homeschooled its not as easy as you may think.....You really have to work hard at your school work. And besides it wouldnt be fair if you were homeschooled and you saw a whole bunch of people playing and they having there fun while you sit there and do work. So yes i think they really need it off.

Good question. It depends on how their schedule was with their homeschooling lessons. They may need a break, but probably something like a summercamp or something where there can meet other kids of their age group.

Yeah if the parent or home schooler wants them to. But if they dont then they get through school faster. my cousin was home schooled and me and her are the same age well i was public schooled and she graduated the 12th grade, three or four years before i did so its what ever you think would be best if they need a rest you could give them a week off then go back to schooling just according to the families life style.

I would say, yes.
They need the social interactions of summer as well as a vacation from their studies.
Also, some kids who are not home schooled go to summer school.
