Does Islam allow any leeway on what name you call the One God? How forgiving is Allah?

Also, does Islam make any distinction between Allah and the Christian God, or does it teach that they are the same God? Is the Christian God viewed as a false god and an imposter? Is being a Christian considered idol worship in the Islamic view?

Answer to you qestion according to Qur'an is that Christians Jews Sabians who followed the religion of their Prophets will be treated just like Muslims.

Allah is Arabic translation of God which most the the Arab Christians use when referring to God. Father what you believe to be the God is the One God according to Muslim beliefs. Jesus (PBUH) was the Prophet and Messanger of God.

Honestly don't want to answer the idol worship part of your question because it will offend all Christians.
Christians and Jews are called the children of the book in Qur'an.

God is the Most Merciful and the Most Kind who will forive all the sins except one and that is associating patners with Him.

Islam lets us call our God any of the names that he has. All of them mean God, but they are just different languages. Allah is very forgiving, very merciful. He forgives anybody for any sin of they are truly sorry.

Islam doesn't make a distinction of Allah and the Christian God, they are the same. We believe there is one God who controls and created everything, but we just don't believe He had a son, b/c humans are way lower than God, they can't be equals or family wiht him. And yes, we belive some parts of Christianity is false, but both religions do have things in common, alot of things actually, but men changed the bible over time.

And I don't mean to offend anybody else's religion, but we Muslims believe that Allah, or God, whichever you choose to say, excepts only true Muslims into Heaven. But ofr example, if there was a baby and the baby was made a chirsitan and died (God forbid) then the baby would obviously go to Heaven, b/c it is just a poor helpless creature that hasn't done wrong and is innocent. Allah is not the true God. He is the 1 that is an idol, not the Christian God.

Look do you know that christianity and Judaism were once the right religons. Jews were once loved by God, they got food from heaven. They were greedy and selfish and they made differrent demands from God. They turnded their backs from him and that is why God according to the Quran hates them.

Next came christianity, God once again tried to bring people on the right path and beleive me if you follow the correct version of Bible then you will go to Heaven. But the problem is that there is no correct version left.

Islam was the third and the last attempt and the sucessful one and God promised to protect the Quran and no one has edited it from the day it was revealed till the end. Beleive me no one will.
Remember one thing that Muslims have a whole Surah (its like a chapter similar to the Bible I guess) its called Surah Marayam named after who you call Mary your Holy mother. Read that surah and beleive me you will know that Quran is the word of God.

I'm not really sure, but I'm pretty sure that Muslims see Allah and the Christian god as one and the same.

And I know you're going to get a lot of ignorant people telling you a lot of untrue things about Islam and how it's supposedly a horrible religion. Please don't listen to them.

The word "Allah" is simply the Arabic word for Almighty God, and is the same word used by Arabic speaking Christians and Jews. If one were to pick up an Arabic translation of the Bible, one would see the word "Allah" being use where the word "God" is used in English. Actually, the Arabic word for Almighty God, "Allah", is quite similiar to the word for God in other Semitic languages — for example, the Hebrew word for God is "Elah". For various reasons, some non-Muslims mistakenly believe that Muslims worship a different God than Jews and Christians. This is certainly not the case, since the Pure Monotheism of Islam calls all people to the worship of the God of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and all of the other prophets. However, even though Jews, Christians and Muslims worship the same God — since there is only one God — their concepts concerning Him differ in some significant ways.

Muslims believe in GOD(in arabic Allah), the Supreme and Eternal, Infinite and Mighty, Merciful and Compassionate, The Creator and The Provider, He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none equal or comparable unto Him.

Islam is the only religion which recognizes and believes that all the prophets brought the same essential message This message was, still and will be the belief in and submission to ONE God (the Creator and the Sustainer of all things, the Exalted and the Redeemer of all things. The word Islam itself means "submission and surrendering" to God

Allah only accepts Islam. He says in the Koran: "Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam it won't be accepted of him, and he will be one of the loosers in the hereafter". I would rather loose anywhere, but not loose in the hereafter. This is because Hellfire is eternal. It never ends, and we never die when we go there, if we go there.

What about someone who never heard of Islam?
Allah is the most just. Don't even think that we can be nicer than Allah. Allah is the Most Just, and He said in the Koran "We were not to punish till having sent a warner". The "We" here is the majestic we used in Arabic. So if a person never heard about Islam, and was never warned clearly Allah would have a special test for that person that He knows is equal to the chance that person would have had on earth.

=============

Almighty God is Compassionate, Loving and Merciful. The essence of falsehood is the claim that God cannot deal with and forgive His creatures directly. By over-emphasizing the burden of sin, as well as claiming that God cannot forgive you directly, false religions seek to get people to despair of the Mercy of God. Once they are convinced that they cannot approach God directly, people can be mislead into turning to false gods for help. These "false gods" can take various forms, such as saints, angels, or someone who is believed to be the "Son of God" or "God Incarnate".

The original, unchanged revelations given to Abraham and other prophets(like Moses and Jesus ) reaching back to Adam all came from the One True God(The Creator). This common origin explains their similarities in many beliefs and values

However, over time the teachings of the various religions, due to a variety of reasons, have become distorted and mixed with made-man ideas.

The last Prophet and Messenger of God, Muhammad , who is a direct descendant of Abraham through his first born son, Ishmael, was sent with the Last Guidance, Revelation and Testament, the Holy Qur'an(koran) to amend and correct the changes and corruption made to the the "Torah" which was sent to Moses and theTrue Gospel of Jesus. To say the truth ,God preserved all the other Holy Books plainly by preserving His Last Book the Holy Qur'an(koran)which contains the right and the truth of all that was changed in those other Books.

This is why this last Revelation which was sent 1423 years ago has remained unchanged, not even a word or a letter has been altered.

There is not even one word of difference between two Arabic Qur'ans, anywhere in the world. There has been no disagreements in history among Muslims as to what should and should not be in the Qur'an. However, in the case of the Bible, even the most ancient manuscripts conflict with one another so that no two are identical. Footnotes in all modern versions of the Bible prove this fact.

These revisions serve as concrete proofs that all the Biblical books are not at all divinely inspired. This is because it is beyond man's ability to correct the work of his Creator, who alone is Almighty and perfect

It was only natural for Almighty God to preserve the scripture revealed to Prophet Muhammad, because he was the last Prophet and Final Messenger of God.

Islam teaches us that we must pray directly to God without an intermediary and no soul can bear the burden of another and that the nature of humanity is good, and we did not inherit sin from Adam. Each soul comes into being free of sin.in Islam there are no priests or clergy -- each worshipper, man or woman, has a direct relationship with their Merciful Creator -- Almighty God. Since God is the Owner and Sustainer of everything, as well as the only one who can provide true and complete forgiveness, it is completely futile to try to approach Him through anyone else.

The oneness and universality of God's message requires that people accept all the messengers of God. Rejecting one of them amounts to rejecting them all. The Jews reject Jesus's mission and Muhammad's mission; the Christians reject Muhammad's mission; whereas the Muslims accept them all, but reject incorrect historical interpretations and human elements in these missions.

As the Qur'an is the final revelation and Muhammad is the final prophet, humanity is obligated to accept it: "If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost all spiritual good" (3:86).

The Final Prophet Muhammad said: "Whoever believes there is no god but God, alone without partner, that Muhammad is His messenger, that Jesus is messenger of God, and that Paradise and Hell are true, shall be received by God into Heaven."

you can do that now as you are reading these lines is to pronounce the two confirmations and attestations of faith, here it is

I BEAR WITNESS THAT THERE IS NO GOD WORTHY OF WORSHIP EXCEPT ALLAH ( ARABIC WORD MEANS ONE GOD-THE CREATOR). AND I BEAR WITNESS THAT MUHAMMAD IS HIS SERVANT AND MESSENGER. I BEAR WITNESS THAT JESUS IS HIS SERVANT AND MESSENGER.

The right picture of lslam is conveyed in the Qur'an, which is exemplified by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. The reality is that it is not fair to judge a religion by the actions of its followers alone because there are good and bad followers in every religion. The correct thing to do is to judge a religion by its documented revelation from God and the prophet who brought that revelation.

I encourage Christians and other religions to learn about Islam from Muslim sources and The Basis Of The Muslim Belief and not rely on second hand information which in many cases is distorted or contains a deep seated anti Muslim agenda. This is indeed a more scholarly approach
