If he quit playing tomorrow I think history would regard him as "one of the best", but to end the debate he needs to keep up the pace for 5-7 more years.
Stats:
Nicklaus won 79 PGA tournaments and Woods currently has 50.
Nicklaus won 18 majors and Woods is at 11.
(And regarding racist: If the best rapper in the world can be white, then the best golfer can be black!)

Without a doubt he's the best. The things he has accomplished by the age of 30 is remarkable and unmatched. And you have to remember he's doing it against a higher level of competition than there ever has been in golf. Back 20, 30, 40, or 50 years ago the field was limited to a few golfers who were always at the top of the leaderboards. Today anyone golfer can make a run and win a tournament.
Tiger is approaching Jack Nicklaus's record of 18 majors in his career and he's only 30 years old. Jack one his last major (The Masters) in his 40's. At the pace Tiger is going he's going to shatter all golf records by the time he retires.

Well dude, I think that tiger woods is a great athlete but certainly not the best. Like you said, Bo Jackson, Rocky Marciano, Jordan, Roger Federer, Ali, Rice, Joe Lewis, etc. are all better than tiger woods. I do think he is the greatest golfer of all time but i dont think hes close to the greatest athlete.

He is the best ever. His style of play and incredible stroke have won him many majors. He will continue to get better and will eventually have more majors than anyone with a better round average, putting average, and probably other stats. He has god given talent at the age of 7 he was a scratch golfer no one can or will be better than tiger.

Best ever! No doubt. There are 2-3 names you could throw out there to comapre to him and he would've crushed each of those guys. He is an overall stud and we should be greatful he came along.

absolutely not racist....but hero status come with your start, middle and end of a career...you say best ever now....but in ten years time (after two rehab intakes, three wife's, twice divorced and two assault charges) lets see is all I'm saying respect is deserved not earned

he isn't yet the best ever bet he will be when he wins that 19th major. Jack Nicklaus knew how to win and is still unsurpassed so he is still the best
