If you mean that God/Jesus is the ONLY God/Leader Who treated women with the same respect as men, then yes. If you mean that He taught that men and women were equally important in His love, and that they ought to respect one another both for their similarities as well as their differences, then, again, yes.
If you are saying that, as a "religion" Christianity has always treated women as equals, then the answer is a resounding "NO"!! Unfortunately, more people see the religion as God, not very many people can look past the "followers" to get to know the LEADER...

Have you ever read the bible? That fact that you've said...Christianity treats women and men equally, says otherwise. Why people are bring Catholicism into it I have no idea..at least the catholics acknowledge the mother as more than just a cocoon for the son of the god. They actually honor the mother as being the giver of life..I'm not catholic but I can respect that.
They'd never had a woman pope..not just because of their beliefs but how would the men stay celibate with a woman walking about tempting them. They have enough problems avoiding the alter boys. LMAO!

Christianity does not treat women as equil to men. Women are considered either "reveared" or "man's helper." Neither is EQUAL to man. Some may think that's ok, but I don't. I don't want to be put on a pedistal or be treated as man's little helper. I want to be seen as the same as him in strength, spirit, and mind.
Yes, Christians believe women get to go to heaven, but so do Jews, Muslems, and many other religions.

See it properly all men and women are equal in the eyes of a religion. If all people will go to heaven who will be the resident of hell then? :)

Christianity isn't completely equal
for one the bible says eve was made from Adams rib! how unfair is that, it basically is putting the woman in her place right there isn't it!!
so we are just a rib and you think that's fare or equal?
its not true anyway cos the bible is man made and writen to suit men and to put them in a higher place then woman, it may not be as bad as the Muslim religion but its still bad enough.
i think all religions should be band and i hate all the people who created all these religions, all they've coursed is war and murder and extream hell!

Rubbish - women have been looked down on in the eyes Christianity since day one. Read a book called 'Misogynies' which talks about women in religion and you will see what i mean.

Christianity PROMISES to treat you equally when you die. But in the meantime, and while you're living the only life you can be sure of, Christianity is as sexist as the worst.

Christianity as a belief maybe, but no christian organisation treats men and women as equals. my experience of both the cathoilc and c of e churches have left me rejecting both as corrupt, political, hypocritcal organisations which look down on those who are less fortunate as themselves. I have a strong christian belief but have turned my back on any religious sect, be it christian or otherwise because their values and reasons for existing have become distorted and contradict the true wish of god.
