Your going to have to start over.

cover her cage for 12 hours a day everyday from 7am to 7pm, keep the room shes in dark

spend some time reading a book to your cockatiel in a soft voice this will help her understand your not a threat.

offer her, her favorite food through the cage bars, and tell her good bird and pretty bird while she does it.

next try to offer her food directly, she may be panicky or bity at fist but be patient it takes time.

After she takes food directly from you for a while try to teach her the step up command, she may hiss and bite you at first, but make it quick and direct as you try.

as she's on your hand tell her how special she is and how much you love her. Dont try to pet or scratch her at this point. She may bite you, if she does just say no biting in a calm serious voice.

gradually as she's comfortable with you handling her you can try to pet her or scratch her neck, she may not like it and if not be happy with the fact your cockatiel is able to step up on to you and trust you.

Getting a bird to trust you is a wonderful thing and when they bond to you its an absolutely joyus feeling.

I hope this helps

I wish you the best of luck raising your cockatiel

hello; im new here and my name is bruce. i had a female cockatiel for 4 years. she never hissed or bit anyone. please note that i dont have any background info on your bird, so my answer is only trying to help you ok. most birds need attention. by that i mean i stopped putting mirrors in there cage. they tend to focus on the mirror as there mate therefore taking away the fun you should be having with them. that said, your bird might be scared by something or someone. if youhave kids banging on the cage then this will cause the bird to be ugly. one solution you might try is putting her into a room ''alone'' with no distracions. leave her by her self for at least a month. that way she can look out the window and be relaxed. and when you feed her, just talk nice and then after a 3 week period, try usng a wooden stick to slowly take her out of the cage. but only for 30 seconds at first then progess to longer times. buy the ''spray millet'' then train her to eat some from the stick then coax her on your shoulder. in my experince, cockatiels love attention. but they need to be relaxed when training them. if you want to send me an mail at home you need to tell me more about the age, and what your experince is in raising these types of birds. patience is a must have when having a cockatiel. but once you've mastered the training, their great pets. BTW... the females dont talk. only the males do ..... good luck ! .... bruce

Get rid of it and buy a baby hand fed cockatiel and hold it alot. That way, you wont have to clip its wings and it will fly and land on your shoulder and love you to death.

But if you insist on keeping your bird, clip it's wings, and hold it in a towel against you, talk to it and pet it's head alot. You have to spend a lot of time wth them.

I use to raise cockatiels. They are great pets if they accept you. good luck

It takes gentle handling and patients. Be sure you are the only one feeding her, give her special treats from you hand, and fingur train her so she will get on your hand and you can transfer her to your shoulder. How long have you had the bird?
