What is the point of telling people where peadophiles live? You cant trust the public to act sensibly with that kind of information, there is always an element of society that would use it to try and kill these people and could get the wrong one. In Britain, peadiatritions were attacked.

If a peadophile is living near a school, so what??? A peadophile could be a 10 minute bus ride from a school, whats the difference? Why do politicians always decisions that pander to dumb hateful people?

I dispise peadophiles and the crimes thet commit, but we should think these things through.
Thanks.

Any law that is advertised as promoting the good of the general public is very easily perverted by the government to exercise what is essentially unlawful control over individual citizens. Today it is used to monitor the activities of convicted child sex offenders. Tomorrow, it may be used to monitor the activities of a seemingly ordinary American with "bad ideas". The government isn't protecting children with this law; it's causing the prospect of diminished freedom to loom within their futures. Parents can protect children by doing what parents have always done with their children--by keeping an eye out for where they go, with whom, and for how long. The rest is up to fate. You can't put human beings in a hurt-proof bubble. It's simply unrealistic. With or without laws like this, your son or daughter or grandchild could just as easily be abused by the convicted pedophile down the street as he could by your friendly Sunday School teacher WITH NO PREVIOUS CRIMINAL RECORD.

Does society want to do something to curb sexual abuse of children? How about really doing something to solve the problem, like passing down actual sentences for convicted child sex offenders, instead of the proverbial "slap on the wrist". How about we as a society trying to nip the problem in the bud by setting up counseling and rehabilitation programs (through private charities and religious organizations) for people who haven't yet molested a child, but have confessed to suffering from such sexually devient psychological processes, rather than shaming the person into secrecy until the problem becomes someone else's?

This isn't a disease that's going to go away by running the government-identified danger to society next door out of town. With as many children as are abused every year, to me it's evident that in order to even begin to eradicate this evil, it must be addressed on an individual level, which is impossible for any legislation to accomplish. Many laws such as this, while claiming to protect society, only serve to cause more problems than they solve.

Of course you are right there are many occasions when politicians adopt laws for one purpose only to find out they have a different result that what was intended. Nobody can justify what phedofiles do to satisfy thier lust for children. On the other hand when somebody has done his time in prison they should be able to integrate back into society and lead a normal life with the limitations that are necessary under the law. To have somebody hounded, beaten and driven out of a neighbourhoo also does not have the desired outcome. Perhaps we should leave these matters to the courts, probation services and the police to handle and get the politicians spending time making the whole society better for everyone.

politicians themselves are dumb and hateful people for the most part so why would their policies and decisions for the general public and especially criminals be anything less.

at any rate, i agree with the guy that says so what to attacking pedophiles- the damage they do to their victims is not much short of inhumane, and often they get away with too much due to the nature of their crimes being difficult to prove most times.

plus, seriously, it's a sad fact that those that go so far as to commit pedophile type crimes continue to commit them over and over- all people, even pedophiles, have rights, but i think the other people should at least have this little edge to protect their kids or selves from that element of society...

just the thought of pedos is yucky

Pedophiles need to know that we, as a society (finally) no longer give a damn about their rights and their existence. They need to feel unsafe and be afraid that we might call them names, throw bottles at them from our cars, or shoot at their homes in the night. That way they'll stay the hell inside and hide from society. Although sex crimes are much more highlighted in the media now, they are occurring with much less frequency, partly because we have practically driven these low-lifes into holes in the ground. They know they will get caught and they now fear us. Good.

Yeah. Right.

Have children, grand kids, plus, the neighbor's kids, and we ran the last two pedophiles outa here!

They were renting, next streets over. The picketings, the drive-bys, and the graffitti all convinced them to move on!
And, we all watch the alerts, talk to those who are landlords, about our 'rules' that keep crime out!

I don't care if a Pedophile gets killed, also would not mind knowing how many drug dealers or burglars live in my town.
