I don't think this time it will repeat it self, I heard on the news Bush told Fox the issue is dead for now. I think that means the politicians are waiting after the election to make a decision, well hopefully, It will be different politicians making the decision. If it weren't for the Republicans in congress stoping this amnesty bullsh*t, they would have had it already, think God for the them. And it was not logicial to give amnesty in the past that was a clear mistake, that is why were having a bigger problem now. So I am hoping history will not repeat it self.

What makes you think it was 'logical' to do it in the past?

And yes, history repeats itself which is why it would be criminal irreponsiblity to give it again without much better controls in place, this time.

I think we need (1) border security (2) to start compiling the employee ID database, (3) a temporary halt on deportations except of those newly crossing the border, gang members and those convicted of crime, while we (4) sit down and figure out a way to do that with proper protections and enforceable LIMITED immigration going forward.

I think we need to isolate the employers' desire for a slave labor program because their addiction to cheap labor is in no one else's best interest. I could see a limited, truly seasonal agricultural worker program like the H2 visa but simplified, which would have them house and feed and give health insurance to their seasonal employees, who would not have a chance at residency. That is the only kind of INCREASE in immigration I would see as acceptable, and it would have to be enforceable by employee database before it went into effect.

Nope,it will not dare repeat itself! There would be such a war in this country,it would make the civil war look like a picnic. Amnesty is NEVER logical! All it does is breed more amnesty, It can and will be stopped!

It was stupid of Reagan to approve it, Mexico has NOT reformed nor will they until there's direct pressure for em to do so. They've got 110 million people to feed, and they're not doing it because they think they can keep playing the US for softies.

Mexico could be wealthy, Mexico could be 100% self-sufficient, but instead we've got this great ugliness called an 'unsecured border' with Mexico, and a bunch of fat corrupt politicians in both countries who apparently can't read a flippin' map. This is basic-basic stuff, Pancha, and the gross stupidity that's let it get this far is pathetic...

The bump in the road, concerning amnesty, is that its a mid term election year....Republicans don't want to lose power, so many are giving lip service to the illegal issue....

It wasn't logical in 1986 for Reagen to grant amnesty. It only encouraged more illegal aliens.

Our attitude has changed so much since 9/11 - and we have become far more protective than humanitarian. Pain makes one selfish and we want control of our borders - I just don't think our government can stand on both sides of the proverbial fence on this.

This is the same as your last question. History does not always repeat itself, your being a little cliche now Pancha.

Of course. Look at World Wars I and II. Germany tried to take over everything TWICE! But that's okay, we're friends with Germany now. LOL
