Actually, I believe that it is entirely possible that he never existed. Don't you find it strange, that out of all the legendary peoople who lived at the time of Christ, Jesus is the only one for which no archaeological eveidence exists?

Well, there is as I'm sure you know the Testimonium Flavianum ... although that has been disputed for centuries and is not really archaeological evidence ... and Jesus was well dead by the time Josephus was born ... so ... why you bother hating Jesus is another matter ... why don't you hate Santa Claus? Or do you?

Idiot. There is a ton of archaeological evidence for the existence of Jesus - the Dead Sea Scrolls appear to contain first-hand evidence of "the teacher" circulating in and around Judea at the time, and make reference to his followers.

(Strangely, the church has actively tried to suppress publication of much of what the DSS contain - they seem happier to rely on the hearsay accounts written over a century after Jesus died to eyewitness evidence. But that's another story.)

Hating a historical figure seems particularly idiotic as well. Someone else said he was, by all accounts, compassionate and well-intentioned. You might hate what people did in his name, but that's different. Actually I feel sorry for Jesus, for being so catastrophically misrepresented by self-interested fools over the past two thousand years. A dead man, not even a very good one, can't answer back. I'm an atheist, by the way.

As for the evidence for Shakespeare's existence - well, what did you want? His grave is well marked in Stratford upon Avon and is known to contain his remains from an exhumation in the 1950s. He did not live in the 1700s, he lived from 1564 to 1616. There are invoices made out to him for property he bought, references to him in the theatrical records of the 1600s, signatures by him on various documents, and even the bed he was born in still exists. Some people won't be satisfied unless they have a well-preserved mummy to look at.

I wll concede the historical records are mighty thin on the Jesus person. Even the Josephus stuff is iffy. First because Josephus himself was a flake who also "saw" all kinds of mythical creatures, and secondly because those particular lines have been so heavily edited that even pro-Jesus scholars admit that it's difficult to know what the original said.

But I'm going with the folks who say that even if he did exist, he was at worst an itinerant preacher who said a couple of nice things about the needy and children.

I'm saving my hate for tyrants, pedophiles, and such. And yes, I have a great dislike for those who've mangled the better part of what's survived of Jesus' message - assuming there was a Jesus. They seem to love the idea of "righteousness" but are notoriously uncharitable.

I don't hate Jesus but I don't think he was the child of a deity either. I believe he walked the earth perhaps not as the bible states. Many people believe King Arthur walked the earth too. A lot of times when very little written records exist legendary figures from history are often conglomerated from many different scraps of history to build a new figure which then becomes ingrained in our society.

Actually, I love Jesus. As for you, how can you hate nothing? I mean, you just said you don't think Jesus exists. It's only possible to hate something. So perhaps you were referring to the conception of Jesus. That is, the thought that He exists. Then that means that you hate the conception of Jesus. But it has just as much chance of being correct as the conception of no Jesus. So, I keep my faith in the conception of Jesus, and say He exists. You are entitled to another opinion though, and I guess I respect your faith.
By the way, there's some evidence for Jesus' existence. Even if you don't believe He was holy, you can still gain some lessons for a better moral and aesthetic condition in the world from his teachings. Nonetheless, I don't need evidence, because I believe in Jesus in faith.

I find it an odd contradiction, that you could hate someone you believe never existed. As for no archaeological evidence...well, there are more witnesses and accounts of his exsistance than any other individual in human history. Strange, that even though this form of evidence is the primary one that is used throughout history, you dismiss it.

Why should anybody hate Jesus? He never hurt anyone,he healed the sick,he feed the hungry,he stood against religious heresy,he raised
three people from the dead and finally He loved YOU while you hate him
and gave his life so you could be saved and not fear death.I dare you to study about his crucifixion and realize Jesus did it for YOU.
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

There's no archaeological evidence for Hero or Perseus either so your premise is wrong right of the bat, also there's no archaeological evidence for the existence of Shakespeare either and he lived in the 1700's. No one can prove Shakespeare actually existed.
