I have found that Religion is part of Spirituallity. You don't have to have a religion to be Spiritual. Contray to some beliefs, Christianity is a Religion. How about you?

Spirituality is a part of Religion but Religion has nothing to do with Spirituality. Religion is about Organized Collective Beliefs and Spirituality is about the Personal Development of Self and a Connection to the Divine. Religion tells you what to Believe, Spirituality IS what you Believe.

Religion is the external behavior - the behaviors, values, and rituals a person follows and/or uses to express and live out their spiritual beliefs. Spirituality is a deep inner life that many people experience. It is driven from the knowledge that there is something larger and greater than physical existence. What we actually BELIEVE regarding spirituality, I guess, would be our RELIGION. Yes, it is possible to be spiritual without religion, and to be religious without being spiritual (the latter is a VERY SAD SITUATION, indeed). Hope this answers your question.

Oh, yeah, I am Christian, and I am not ashamed at all to say that Christianity is a religion. I base my entire spiritual belief system in my knowledge of forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Without Him, I'd be spiritual, but I'd be dead, because I would not have His unconditioinal love and forgiveness.

God Bless.

I love reading other peoples answers and you got a few good ones here. A few of the differences I find is religion seems to be set in stone and doesn't leave much room for free thinking-open mind. It's this way or else get ready for the fire and eternal damnation, most of the major religions have the seeds of Spiritually but it seems to get lost in application. Spiritually cuts through the dogma and is, I walk what i talk way of life. It is always about application of principals that are spiritual, love, forgiveness tolerance, acceptance, finding ones own nature and the God within oneself in a working relationship with the God of their understanding.

Religion is man-made to assist in it's efforts to understand the mind and will of God. Religion is about interpretation of the bible and that is why there are so many denominationst existing today -- various interpretations of scripture and church dogma or doctrine.

As ordained clergy, I've come to separate the two. People are no longer seeking Religion, however, a higher, spiritual connection with God. Some equate Religion with going to church and hearing a sermon about what you did work from one Sabbath to the next. That is not why people come to church -- if you go to a church like that and not being spiritually fed -- find another joint! I don't need to get in a pulpit and preach about folk going out on Friday and Saturday night -- you and God know you did it and I pray you had a good time and had fun.

When I go to church to worship, I want to hear some GOOD NEWS! I want to hear what God desires for me in my life and how God is going to be there to help me through whatever is going on in my life.

i personally believe that the word "religion" is more of a political word, where as "spirituality" is ones personal interpretation and relationship with a higher being or beings. i'm sure Webster's or Wikipedia would describe it differently. the word religion is political to me because of it's usage history, in the mass exodus to this country for religious freedom, it's use in the constitiution, and the way it narrows down the worship of a higher being by putting a label on it. i.e. christianity, islam, hinduism, and even satanism. the word spirituality is more personal, i believe, having a broader interpretation and not so focused on outward constrictions.

I don't like Religion.

I'm a Christian. Religion is what people do in order to make them seem right with themselves.

Spirituality is the expressions of the spirit.

The two; religion and spirituality, can have nothing to do with eachother.

Thus it becomes important to know other words that have to do with what could be considered necessary for a relationship with God.

Faith( trust ), holiness( dedication), love, perseverance. These words are what make a basic Chrtistian along with knowledge- for if you know what you are faithing, dedicated, loving, and persevering to, you have the focus necessary to build that relationship with God.

There is a great difference between religion and spirituality. In religion you are told to follow a group of men with their own agendas. In religion you must donate money to GOD but with the church's name on the check.
In spirituality you follow GOD and are told to donate your time to your betterment.
Another way to look at it is:
There are thousands of religious groups and many more churches spread over the world. These religions/ churches all have one thing in common, and ONLY one thing in common. Know what it is? GOD? no!, some of them worship rats, cattle, monkeys etc. The only thing each and everyone of these religions have in common is:::: EACH OF THEM IS THE TRUE, GOD CHOSEN RELIGION. THE OTHER THOUSANDS ARE ALL FALSE. I know how stupid this sounds but think about it. I'm right.
Spiritualists are seekers of truth, religions are seekers of power and control.

impatiently and day dreaming of fishing. A spiritual

on guilt, fear, sin and is mind driven. Spiritualism

Spirituality is attained through religious practice and it is not necessarily to be Christianity. Even Muslim people who practice their religion can attain spirituality. When you come to spirituality, Hindu religion of which is I practice, is well defined in our religion and could be easily understood.

I don't know yet. I have accepted Jesus, BUT, I still feel there is more to it than just that. I feel like a sinner for questioning that, but it is an emphatic feeling, a sense, if you will. Like you can sense there is something more to tis life. But, I'm still sticking with Jesus. Maybe I'll just become a mystic Christian.
