by the way, I've been taking tylenol and its been doing nothing for me

I used ibuprofen when I had braces and I would rate it an 8 the first few days and after that a 10

ibuprofen is preferred about a 6 because it is a antiinflamatory. Personal experience yes helped until it started to wear off. Cold things ice cream and milk shakes along with ibuprofen did the job for me.

depends on how severe the pain is, and how often you take ibuprofen. often the more you take it the less each dose does, because your body gets used to it being in the system. in addition it doesnt really help with extremely severe pain, but most kids complain about braces with no idea what actual pain is.

Next time, try taking a dose of Ibuprophen before your appointment... gives it a chance to start working before the pain sets in.

Then take it as directed for the remainder of the day and maybe the next day or so...

I'd say 5. Alternate with Tylenol and you should be good to go.
