Watch the dog for several days. Pick something that suits his/her personality. I never pre determine a pet's name. Sometimes the name even changes a couple times the first week until I settle on something really appropriate. Past names I've come up with based on their personalities:
Bruiser, Butkus, Peanut, Samson, Goliath.

Over the years I have had:
Thomas
Champ (a girl, named by kids)
Sugar
Elvis
Echo
Punkin
Bart (named by kids)
Circe
Jeter (a girl dog, named by kids)
Mooby
I like pulling names from mythology (Echo, Circe) and pop culture (Elvis, Mooby & Jeter). I always wanted to name a dog Liberace, or Charo, but my husband won't let me.

i wouldn`t plan on naming it a common human name because if you have any friends named that then it`d kinda be weird.. but anyway i just got a new puppy a month ago and we named her jasmine!!!!!! aww! lol anyway that`s for a girl but for a guy probably like milo or something. good luck!
