Completey right if that is what you want to do. If you choose to put your 2-3 yr old son in a beauty pageant, GO RIGHT AHEAD! Its all for fun. I put my daughters in them, and they love it. I wouldnt get into pageants so much that you become a pageant mom, and have bad sportsmanship, but if you choose to put your beautiful sons in a beauty pageant, that is all up to you! Its YOUR choice, and it doesnt matter what ANYONE says!!

COMPLETELY wrong. Don't people realize that some pervert will develop an obsession with YOUR child? It's only a matter of time!!!

It's one thing if somebody older makes the conscious decision to take this risk for themselves, but a 2-3 year old child has no idea of the consequences and shouldn't be forced into that.

Plus I just think it is a horrible way to start out a child on developing their impressions of the world. It is bad for their self-esteem and teaches them to be shallow and judgmental.

What exactly is it that's good about beauty pageants anyway?

I think an occassional pageant or tasteful photo shoot is ok as long as the company has been researched and the child's parents are always present. I don't think a child should ever be forced to compete in anything and I think great care should be taken to ensure that the dreams that are being persued are that of the child and not the parent! I don't agree with it as a way of life, but if it's just for fun and everyone is enjoying it, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Totally not wrong depending on how far the parent takes it. if they quickly become a pageant mom or dad constantly obsessed with their child competeing and the child is not getting to enjoy his childhood its wrong, but as I see it the little things like that at a young age developed a childs confidence, helps them to be more outgoing and not afraid of large crowds or public speaking. Im not saying a child wont develope these things nature because most do but it can help or just be fun for the child. As for perverts being obsessed most of the crowd is pagaent contestants families and friends and coaches not some strangers off the street.

I don't think it is wrong as long as you teach they children to focus on the right aspects of beauty pageants. There is nothing wrong with teaching boys abouut healthy competition.

If the child is having fun and it's something he wants to do, there's nothing wrong with it. On the other hand, if the parent is forcing the child to enter these pageants when he'd rather be playing with his Tonka trucks, then it's wrong - let your kid live his life, it's his, not yours!

I don't believe in "beauty" pageants for little girls, so I also don't think they're appropriate for little boys either.

Places the emphasis on the WRONG attributes!

Wrong, because they are too young to decide for themselves if that is what they want. Ask yourself why it's important for you to have them in pageants....sounds like this is your issue.

I think it is up to their mothers but I personally think that this may mess with a childs psyche. That or be some really good blackmail when that child gets a girlfriend (if he ever does)

Wrong. Because you are teaching your child that in order to be loved he has to do something. This in a future causes them to have low self-esteem, and do things so people would love them and not because they love to do them.
