I've been dating this guy for about 3 months. I really like him a lot.
We both still date other people, well, at least we are not exclusive.
He tells me yesterday that he is dealing with depression and needs some time to get himself straightened out.
I asked him if he wanted to date someone else exclusively - if this is really what it is.
He said, No, that is not it at all.

Guys - would you be honest about this if asked?
I'm having a very hard time dealing with this, cause I really like him and wonder if this is just a way to end dating or if he really does need time.
Please advise. How do I not take rejection so hard. I wish i could be tougher.

also, he's just been divoriced since November.
I do think about it 24 hours a day - my insides are all jumbled up and I cry.
I just want to feel better. I don't understand why he wouldn't like me - I'm a nice, thoughtful, caring person. I like the simple things in life - I don't demand any 5 star treatment. I care about him.

i think he really needs time to get to know himself most people that date around like that have no clue what they want and can be very confused and confusing. He couldn't answer this question honestly because he probably is so out of it and doesn't know what he wants. He probably just needs to get to know himself. All people need to at some point in time.

You can only make a decision based on the information at hand. You tried to find out the real reason, and he said it was his own depression. So it's about him, not you. Don't take it personally, and don't spend too much more time thinking about it. Move on, and look for someone new. There is never just "one" person out there for anyone.
