Yeah sounds like an orthodox jew thing.
Those people make things real complicated for themselves.
Someone I know who works in a hotel had to leave the desk everytime one of those dudes needed to use the elevator.
She had to press the button for them because they couldn't use electrical devices on a Sunday.
Geez.

What are you really trying to say?
Addendum since I didn't get a response: Some occupations have to work on the Sabbath . . . the big example is healthcare. Cut the electricity and gas to those services and deaths result. This is why the utilities send out papers to private individuals asking if a house contains someone whose life is dependent on a machine such as a respirator. They have to restore service to those areas quickly or have some emergency back up in place. Utility workers would be viewed the same as healthcare workers and have a vital function to perform and would not be breaking the Sabbath by working. So I think we all benefit from the fact utilities have to run on the Sabbath.
There is a such thing as the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. A big part of it is your spiritual approach to the Sabbath. For example, you can eat a quiet family meal without making it a 7 course gourmet meal or eating out.

Jesus was criticized for healing on the Sabbath but pointed out that children are "circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken," Then goes on to make his larger point "Why are you angry with me for healing the whole man on the Sabbath?" In essence certain things are essential like medical intervention, and I would think utilities would fall under that category of essential services as well.
I also find this passage interesting. "One man considers one day more sacred than another; Another man considers every day alike. Each should be fully convinced in his own mind." Romans 14:5 Ultimately I believe Jesus would preach that everyday is holy, and special days are living by the law, which brings death, and not by the spirit, which brings life.
A sensible approach would be to a least take one day off a week to recharge and to seek spiritually. This should not be seen as requirement, but an optimum modus operandi. "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." Mark 2:27

its more complicated than that
some people like orthodox jews don't turn on the gas/light on saturday cause it is their action that directly affects what will happen in their home/light bulb/stove
but it not like nobody can use the lights the electric company doesn't produce current like making an omelet - "hey can i get 20 watts down here?"
more like the current was/is produced regularly and used as needed
so my turning the electric doesn't mean, that Mr joe electric, has to throw 1 more piece of coal in the generator, just for me!

Not a day of rest for me! I rest on God's true Sabbath; that is Saturday!
The Seal of God is in the 4th Commandment in Exodus 20:8-11; references are John 4:22-24 and Rev.14:7.
Sabbath in Encyclopaedia Americana, Vol.24, pp.68-69.
The Sabbath Day is Saturday.
Look it up in dictionaries, encyclopedias and etc.
But anyway a SEAL contains 3 things.
1. HIS NAME,
2. HIS OFFICIAL POSITION, TITLE OR AUTHORITY
3. THE EXTENT OF HIS DOMINION AND JURISDICTION
Now the SEAL in the 4th Commandment is
1. THE LORD
2. MADE {office,creator}
3. HEAVEN AND EARTH {dominion}
If we know the SEAL is the 7th day sabbath Saturday (EXOD.20:8-11); then rejecting it would be the MARK.
REV.7:2-3 "AND I SAW ANOTHER ANGEL ASCENDING FROM THE EAST, HAVING THE SEAL OF THE LIVING GOD: AND HE CRIED WITH A LOUD VOICE TO THE FOUR ANGELS, TO WHOM IT WAS GIVEN TO HURT THE EARTH AND THE SEA,
SAYING,HURT NOT THE EARTH, NEITHER THE SEA, NOR THE TREES, TILL WE HAVE SEALED THE SERVANTS OF OUR GOD IN THEIR FOREHEADS." {Deut.6:8 = knowing, doing and keeping the Sabbath holy}
SO IF YOU KEEP SATURDAY HOLY(JN.4:22-24) AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST FAITH; YOU WILL HAVE THE(REV.14:12) "SEAL OF GOD".
Evidence: (Catholics know when the seventh day is)
"1. Is Saturday the 7th day occording to the Bible & the 10 Commandments.
"I answer yes.
"2. Is Sunday the first day of the week & did the Church change the 7th day--Saturday---for Sunday, the 1st. day:
"I answer yes.
"3. Did Christ change the day
"I anser no! Faithfully yours,
"J. Card. Gibbons"
--Gibbon's Autograph letter.
"Ques.--Which is the Sabbath day?
"Ans.--Saturday is the Sabbath day.
"Ques.--Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
"Ans.--We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday."--Peter Geiermann, The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1946 ed.), p.50. Geiermann received the "apostolic blessing" of Pope Pius x on his labors, Jan.25,1910.
Bible Readings pg.194.
(Dan.7:25 tells us "he will think to change laws and times")
"Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change was her act...And the act is a Mark of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things." ---H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons.

Not really - if all people would stay at home and do nothing that's not essential for the purely human needs like drinking and so, nobody would have to be on the streets at all.
Well, I don't live this way - it's just a consideration.

The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.
Don't try and place a burden of works on people, the day, whatever day you choose to observe it was given by God as a gift.

Oi, I spend all of Sunday cleaning up the mess that was made because I didn't do anything all weekend. But my husband rests on Sundays..not because it's his belief..usually just because he drank to much the night before. LMAO
