I just returned from the Bahamas and there were signs stating that after a certain date, passports will be required, but I don't remember as of when. I would take mine if I were you.

I was under the impression that the Bahamas were part of the British commonwealth. Surprised that they let foreigners in without passports - obviously money talks.

Yes, you need a passport to leave the country. The Bahamas are not a part of the US so you need one.

Now if you were going to Guam or Puerto Rico, then no you wouldn't need one because they are territories of the US.

NO you do not need a Passport to go to the Bahamas.
You will have to go thru Coustoms when you Exit and Enter the United States. The same when you get to the Bahamas.

If - after all this good advise you are still wondering- check with the post office. That is where you apply for passports and they should know the answer to that question.
