I did not become a Christian because of the fear of Hell. I wanted to live my life in peace and love. I also want to be in the presence of Jesus. He gave so much for me and I am so thankful. When I was a child we was very poor, we did not have an auto to go where ever we wanted so attending a church was not a given. I learned about Jesus through reading the Bible. I would ask my grandmother questions, her highest education being the third grade, and she would try to explain the best she could. As I grew older I was able to make informed decisions about evolution, etc. I chose to follow the Word of God. It made a lot more sense to me. I have been a Christian most of my life. Throughout my adult life I have chosen to be a Christian because of the love of Jesus, the compassion and truth that has stood through the test of time. I can not believe men's theories when they are so mixed, I do not believe that all just happened in one big explosion. If this is the case then all life can be lost in one big implosion. If this is the case why hasn't it happened? No one to this day has been able to say why the earth is the right distance from the sun from the explosion theory. I have read and studied other cultures, and non-cultures and they all come up wanting. So through faith I walk with my Lord. I will continually do so whether I make it to Heaven or not. Because I know in the Bible we have all sinned and fell short of the Glory of God. Paul said it best when he said, Although he did all of this for the Lord he would miss the calling. Though he led so many to Christ what if he fell short. I don't have the guarantee that I will go to Heaven. I have the guarantee that I can live my life on this earth without fear and malice to none. I can wake with a smile even if I am in the worst of pain and go to bed the same. I can forgive those that abuse me and hold no grudge, this giving me peace of mind. I can have compassion on others that are hurting in mind, spirit or body. I can reach out to others in the name of love and Jesus. I can feel saddened by the war and the bombings of people that are to be enemies of the state. I can cry for the many mothers that have lost their children and ask the Lord to give them peace. I can love all and hate none. This is contentment in the heart, soul, mind and spirit.

I became a Christian because I feel more at peace as one than I ever did when I wasn't. I'm not afraid of going to Hell, nor was I before I accepted Christ. Yes, I would like to live forever in Heaven, but that was not my main motivator.

Sort of. What other reason would there to be a Christian. If Jesus is God in flesh then why wouldn't we follow him. That's kind of like asking why do you love your parents. You love them because they are your parents and they created you, and being able to be with them and live in their is just part of the deal.
Hell is described as a complete separation God. There is no love, joy, laughter. Just a pain so bad the Bible says people grind their teeth. Everyone knows that when you grind your teeth is to forget about some pain on your body.
Also Jesus mentions Hell 14 times and Heavan once because it is a horrible place and he doesn't want you to go there.

I decided to be a Christian because I wanted to set a good example for my kids and live a better life. I wanted to give to the less fortunate and bless out of the grace and goodness God has shed upon my family. I have come a mighty long way from how I used to be, and I owe it to God. Heaven is a plus. I want to live a good life here on Earth and do God's will he has in place for me. It must be something good, because I ain't dead yet.

When I was a kid I listened to the preacher tell me about Hell and it sure did scare me. Went on to study oriental philosophy for a number of years and speculated over atheism very intently but my belief that there had to be something more to give life purpose and meaning other than that we are born so that we can strive our life long only to die led me to the intellectual analysis of the claims of Christianity and I have found that for me Christianity is the only thing that gives a unified field of Knowledge for the truths evidenced in reality....so....by faith .......defined as that place where evidence leads me...by faith...another word for TRUST...by faith...I trust the claims of Christianity...therefore I am a Christian...But Hell still sounds awfully scary to me.

We are not afraid of HEll. We believe that once we die, we go to heaven. I became a Christian because it was right to become one.

Wierd. Many of these people say they are Christian because of reasons other than Hell. But when the bible-thumpers try to convert me, Hell is all they talk about. Weird.

No,first I became christian because I was born into it, and my parents christed me, then later I accepted it with my free will because I do believe.I did have my fate searching , and my selfquestioning, and in the end I still find that what I am born and christed into the best answer for my religius question.
To your answer beeing christian means to me a chance, a chance to go to heaven , and fulfill my need for knowledge, I need to know, want to know, and God is the only one who could give me answers.
So I know that ultimatly it is a God mercy that alowes me to ascend to heaven after death, and not my deeds, but still it points my life to an struggle to live by ethic standards that he prescribed and I acknowledge that I am unperfect in my deeds and that there is still hope in God 's mercy.

First off, I wasn't taught that everyone went to Heaven, Secondly, I was never taught about a burning Hell, but that the Dead are Dead in the GRAVE. So NO, I guess I believe in Jesus the Son of God and Yahweh, because I love them. Period. Just think they're, wow, so loving.
