Sometimes your installation is so corrupt that it is easier to reinstall the OS.
I know its not what you wanted to hear but I am a certified technician and if the installation has too many spyware infections or you cannot get rid of a virus it is time to start looking at disaster recovery and secure any data you may need and reinstall your OS.
Take it as a learning experience and set up better protection and be more prepared for a disaster in the future.

Good luck

When you are in a situation in which a computer is already infected, installing an antivirus and/ or antispyware application is moot. It is after the fact. It is very common for viruses and other malicious files to prevent the installation and scanning of antivirus software. In situations like yours, your best bet is to use an online scanner. Try using Trend Micro's antivirus and antispyware online scanner (aka Trend Micro's HouseCall). It both scans and remove any malicious files it finds on your PC. I recommend Trend Micro because it scans and cleans. Most other online scans only scan a PC and offers cleaning for a price.
You can find Trend Micro HouseCall at: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/.

After scanning and cleaning, restart your PC. See if it is running normally. If it is then install your antivirus and antispyware software. Afterwards, run a scan with your software.

If your PC doesn't work normally then your problem might be something other than infection.

You have to unistall the anti-virus program and then re-install it. AVG free edition is much better than other virus.
