I have a son that just turned 2 on June 1st. And even though he shows ALL the signs of being ready I know that he is not. I can ask him if he has to go potty and he will even take off his diaper. He will sit on the potty for a long time. But he never does anything. I have 2 older sons that one was not potty trained until he was 4, the other was almost 3 and fully potty trained. He will go potty when he is good and ready, NOT when mommy is.

Not too early. If he's trying to do it now, definitely go for it. If you wait then he may decide he doesn't feel like it and then you may end up with a 4 year old in diapers thinking how you should have done it when he was 2. My daughter was 2 1/2...she wanted to go to preschool and had to be potty trained and just started doing it.
FYI While all children are different, kids don't even have the ability to control their bodily functions til after a year old. (so my siser the RN says)

No way! Be happy!
I was potty trained at 15 months! My mom has the pictures to prove it. Imagine a bald headed baby sitting on a potty chair. :-D

I have 3 boys my self and all were about 2 when they started...the first was late 2 and almost three before we accomplished the impossible, the second started a little bit later but te third had barely turned 2 when he started and was done before being two and a half...
So just encourage him and be supportive, if it works out sooner so much the better, but sooner or later it will happen...enjoy the savings on diapers... hehehe

You are so lucky that he has made the decision for you. My oldest did the same thing and it was a breeze compared to his two brothers. When we brought our second son home from the hospital my oldest went back into diapers for a about two weeks and the doctor said that was normal so don't be surprised if he has any setbacks. Good Luck raising boys is an adventure to say the least.
