i have a bladder infection.i'd like to know if having sex would affect it in any way?

no it's not a problem it can be painful depending on how bad your infection is but just be sure to urinate and clean up well afterward but there is no restriction and they are not contagious.

Sexual activity in women can cause bladder infections - the female urethra (the tube that leads from the bladder to the outside) is very short, and is located just below the clitoris, so that vaginal intercourse can cause irritation and bacteria can migrate up this short little tube.
Urinating before and after intercourse can reduce the risk of getting a bladder infection.
Having intercourse while you have a bladder infection will probably not be a very pleasant experience....ouch! Other than that, it would not cause any permanent damage, other than giving you a second infection along with the first one.

Having sex should not affect your bladder infection. A short time after we were married my wife had the same problem a couple of times. The doctor told her she should drink plenty of fluids, cranberry juice in particular, as a lack of fluids was the primary cause of bladder infection. She did not mention any need to abstain from sex. Drinking plenty of water in the future will help prevent further bladder infections.

It is really important to go pee after intercourse. This can actually help prevent getting a bladder infection in the first place. Bladder infections can be caused by bacteria (sometimes from oral intercourse) entering the urethra (pee tube). When that happens you can get an infection from the bacteria going up the urethra and into the bladder. So wash after sex and intercourse but more importantly go pee right away after. As for having sex while having an infection? You can, but like I said "pee and wash" good luck. ps... Cranberry juice (unsweetened) is good for a bladder infection. Good luck

That is probably what gave you the bladder infection to begin with. Having sex just shoves more of those little lovely e.coli bugs up your urethra into your bladder. So even though you are undergoing treatment, it may not work if you are overwhelming the antibiotic.

Probably not the greatest idea, it could irritate the opening to your bladder. You don't say what caused the infection or what kind it is. You might have something you could give to someone else. That!!! wouldn't be nice. So wait a few days until you are finished with treatment. It won't kill you.

You probaby GOT your bladder infection from unsanitary sex in the first place.
People should pay more attention to sexual hygiene. " If it smells it's NOT clean" comes to mind.

Practice hygiene, especially if you are planning to have sex, and meantime refrain from sex until it is cleared up. Make SURE your partner is clean ALSO.

By the way, drinking REAL cranberry juice is excellent to help get rid of urinary tract infection and is also a preventative measure.

I get bladder infections alot , yes with a bladder infection you can have sex but wear condom, If not it will make your bladder infection turn into something even worst.

I just got over one last month, and although it wouldn't affect it, It's just uncomfy. Well at least I was it was very painful until the antibiotics kicked in, So the last thing I was thinking about was sex lol
