I was just wondering why when a fundementalist sees something on TV they find objectionable they don't either turn off the TV or change the radio station they call the FCC. Now I think Howard Stern is a moron carering to the lowest common denomenator but I have the sense to change the station to say Bob and Tom. But now they can't play some of the best bits because a portion of the population can't figure out how to work the channel changer. So if you are one of these clean up the airwaves types let me know what your rational is.

I know that Stern is nothing but garbage but I just flip the dial... I know that people like him and I don't begrudge them that. It isn't he governments job to censor him.

I suppose it works both ways.
Fundies would ask why you are messing with their TV and radio?
The thing is, if you want someone to respect your pov, shouldn't you also respect theirs?

I'm not a "fundie", but I am a Christian. It had never ocurred to me to "clean up the airways", but then, the airways have gotten a tad dirty. It might not be such a bad idea at that. I am concerned for my kids and grandkids. Couldn't people who want more explicit television and radio learn to work a CD player or a VCR?

Modern televisions come with a V chip. Most however, never read the manual that comes with the TV and learn how to program it. With as many channels as television has today surely you can find something out there you don't find objectionable and ignore what you do.

Most that try to get things banned and thrown off television feel it is a moral obligation to do so. They don't trust the FCC to adequately monitor what we are exposed to.

Because the Christian fanatics feel they have to control everything. They are like a virus or a version of the Star Trek Borg. What they can't take over, or assimilate, they feel the need to destroy. All in the name of their creator.

Got news for them, the creator doesn't ask them to do all this. Why can't they just live and let live? Now, don't get me wrong, there are some decient Christians out there that don't try to convert everyone, but a good portion of them do. Most just can't accept something different than themselves.

I'm not sure what your Question is, but Christians like to push their beliefs on other people. Their numbers are large and can influence the FCC. Good morals should be a part of our life, but the FCC takes it too far. The religious lobby groups have way too much influence over the FCC. Plus, no one wants to be the bad guy and says that you can cuss or show boobs on TV.

Maybe it's because they see the moral degenerates in our society and they're trying to protect the younger generation from that garbage as much as possible.
Some material is just not worth subjecting people to, Howard Stern is a perfect exaample of this. He spews nothing that is of lasting value.

I just know that I'd rather rot in hell than spending my time in heaven with those people.

Because these people are not happy, unless they are causing crap for other people. The more crap they cause, the happier they are.
