I believe that no matter if we support the war or not, we should still support our men and women out there fighting in it. As for losing a son or daughter to the war, the child made the decision to join the military in the first place. While it would be difficult to handle for anyone, I don't think that taking away our support would be the right answer. I have had someone on the front line, very recently. I lived on pins and needles for months and months. We did lose a few wonderful men, but mine came home. I am grateful for that, and my heart goes out to the families who lost a loved one.
But I do believe that the war is happening, nothing we as citizens of this country is going to change that. I think that we need to support our men and women even if we don't believe in the cause. Maybe they don't believe in the cause either, but it is their sworn duty, so they don't have a choice.
When a soldier watches a fellow soldier die right in front of them, do they then deserve our contempt when they return home? I don't think so.

i just got finish serving 9 years in the military.
i will tell you this, iraq was zero threat to the US, i do not get where people are saying all the terrorist are there and we are "protecting" the US now.
beleive me, there would be no bombings going around if we did not invade.
and for those who beleive saadam was such a big threat...so what does the majority of our military spending go to? look it up, it al has to do with some big asian country called china, even thought its the US that is funding their military.
iraq was a secular governemnt under sadaam, show me one proof that iraq was related to any terrorist attack or supported any terrorist organization.
and i must say...where is bin laden? everyone forget about him? and also, taliban just took 2 towns back, so much for finishing the first job.
here is a challenge to anyone, show me one terrorist that was an iraqi citizen? i can show you many that were citizens of our "ally" countries of saudi arabia, egypt, pakistan and the uae.
i beleive the US thought it would walk on in there and be thought of as liberators, like in france after ww2. it did not happen.
reason for the invasion, while over there and looking at our base set up and the politics behind everything, i think we picked on the weak dog to truly set of for the show down with our real enemy.....iran.

My uncle is in the United States Army, Special Forces, Detachment Delta and I support this war. I worry every damn day he's over there for him. I personally plan on going to West Point and fighting for our country. And what do you mean a cause such as this? Would you rather have innocent women and children being killed in genocide?

As a military spouse I do support the war, my spouse just got back from Iraq (little over a month ago) was I worried? Heck yes. Did I support going in ? Heck yes. See I firmly believe that if we didn't go in now, that eventually in time we would have to go in. Not to sound bad, but I would rather my husband go now instead of my son in 10-15 years.
Also what alot of people don't seem to understand is Hussein pulled alot of crap even under Clinton, I don't know how many times Hussein would pull some crap and my spouse would be put on standby....(and nothing on the news), heck once they even sent him into Turkey, to only be turned around and come back after a week...also under Clinton. (Hussein let the inspectors back in)
Like I said better now (to go in Iraq) then later. Cause eventually we would have had to go in just a matter of time.....

If my kid die in the war then I fell like he died for a good cause against a world of radical Islam. Making Iraq a democracy is the first step in a free middle east and free from Islamic zealots beside whats between Iraq and Afghanistan
IRAN!

You know you can talk yourself out of anything using this argument- being a pacifist while being attacked by zealots is a great way to get your throat slit. Read on...
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more mportant than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
JOHN STUART MILL
We make war that we may live in peace.
~ ~ ~ Aristotle
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless ONE of the duties of a good citizen, but it is not THE HIGHEST. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
-- Thomas Jefferson, letter to John B. Colvin, 20 Sep 1810
and our enemys approach:
Qur’an:9:5 “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”
Ishaq:324 “He said, ‘Fight them so that there is no more rebellion, and religion, all of it, is for Allah only. Allah must have no rivals.’”

I'm in the army and I support the war for a few reasons but one stands alone...that's the memory of watchin two airliners full of AMERICAN CIVILIANS hit the World Trade Center. If we let terrorists, suspected terrorists, and militants in general have free rein they WILL do something of this nature again. Maybe not to us but to someone. And I just can't sit backand let that happen.

...my son or daughter isnt over there.. my husband is. for the second time. so dont go spouting off at the mouth because you think you are right about something when you have no idea. would be proud of my husband for doing something he believed in if something happened to him. and i support the war. i think it is about time for us to get out of there.. but i believe we went over for good causes. and i know of the good things they have done over there. not just what you see in the news... the actual good things. hell my husband just built a school for the kids in afghanistan!

Its like I said in a question I asked; I'd rather my child die fighting for freedom than jumping out of a blazing skyscraper!
For the poster above; How about Saddam Hussein? Is he enough of a terrorist for ya?!

I support this war and I have fought in it.
And in few months my stepson is joining the Army.
Question: Is it right for you to try to undermine everything that my and my soldier's have achieved?
Do you care at all about the Iraqi people?
Just what do you care about anyway?
