Does Braces withan overbite work becasue thier so uncomfortable and are messing up my bite. I got braces on a week ago and ever since then i couldnt bite down all the way. I couldnt bite on my molars anymore like i could before. Since i have a deep over bite i only bite on my front teeth, because the brackets are sorta in the way on my bottom front teeth stopping me form biting all the way on my back teeth. I Still chew fine, but it doesnt feel like a normal bite to me. Is thier a way to fix this or will i never get to bute in my back teeth?

It is going to take a while before you get a normal bite. Just because you got braces on, does not mean you will instantaneously end up with a perfect bite. Yes the brackets are there for you to not bite all the way down. It will be fixed soon enough.. have patience.

After going thru the complete program with braces your bite and chewing should be normal. Perhaps not the same as you are used to but you will get the feel of it in a short time. Hang in there and go thru this now to correct what was obviously a real problem.

i just got braces a mo. ago. take some more time for your braces to settle in! its only been a week. i couldn't chew for 2 weeks because of my sensitive teeth! your mouth will hurt cuz braces are a new thing to it. take sum more time to get used to them and if its still a prob, contact an orthodontist good luck!

Welcome to the hell of braces. Yes they help overbites they may even change the physical appearance of your chin and jaw. The first year hurts just when you can chew again they tighten them and you are back on mush. Enjoy the diet. LOL You will love your teeth when it is over trust me I do. Was worth the pain and lack of food.

I had braces and also had an overbite. My teeth are perfect now, and feel fine, just hang in there, in the beginning it feels pretty awkward.

If the orthodontist does the job properly they should be correcting your bite. You can always go for a second opinion to another area orthodontist if you are concerned or talk to your regular dentist.

i think it should feel that way since you have an overbite.
but if you just wanna make sure, ask your dentist(ortheodontist) the next time you go.
