if you go on a healthy diet, your ok, but if you go on a starving diet, you will not grow properly!
***** was floored when my 16-year-old daughter told me that her best friend’s soccer coach had put the entire girls' soccer team on a low-carbohydrate diet. After all, in the reams of writing I’ve done on the subject of childhood nutrition, there are a few general “rules” about kids and food that seem to come up over and over. They are:
1. Teenagers should never diet.
2. Girls should never be told they need to diet.
3. Girls who diet risk loss of bone mass.
4. Female athletes who diet risk loss of bone mass, cessation of menses and eating disorders.
5. Low-carbohydrate diets are bad for everyone.
good luck!

i was 16 when i dieted and dropped 54 lbs. im 5'8 male and went from 202-148 (around 2 lbs. per week) i would excersise vigurously and only eat 1200 calories. however that seems a bit too excessive and i didnt grow at all during those months, however the growth did come again after i dieted and i sprouted up.
the best results imo are to get daily excersise to burn off 250-500 calories and eat at least 10x your body weight so it doesn't go into starvation mode and you will lose fat, not only muscle or water, fastest and safest. you shouldn't be jeopordizing your height in any way by doing this way and in usual cases you will eventually reach your potential height no matter what. as far as foods go you should eat healthy and well-balanced meals and count your calories. the only reason people suggest high protein low-carb is because protein fills you up better with almost half the calories of carbs...think chicken breast over a slice of pizza ey

Don't diet, eat better foods. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way you have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Plus click on "Pure Water" to make sure the water you drink doesn't hurt you. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

You are almost done growing anyway and have already stopped. Exercise is very important for health and weight loss. If you do 30 mins of vigorous aerobics a day, you wont end up looking anything like a body builder.

If you are 17, I suggest you go on a good well rounded diet. Something that is NOT a fad. Eat a little of everything, small portions, stay away from fast food. Exercise and just have fun.

it COULD slow your growth if you diet excessively. I would say put most of your efforts into exercise. As for dieting, just do simple things like avoiding junk food. At your age, it's ok to diet a little, but still the best bet is to keep your caloric intake the same, and just increase the amoutn of calories you burn. plus, exercise has other great benefits! (healthy heart, lungs, etc)

Could you get your parent to take you to a family physician or a pediatrician to discuss this? I don't know whether you need to lose weight or not. And severely restricting your diet could cause problems with height, muscle mass, bone density, etc. Your doctor is this best one to advise you on this.

your concept of growing taller is wrong. To grow taller, you gotta engage in sports and be active in your daily lifestyle in order to boost growth hormone as well as metabolism. Diet include proper complex carbohydrates and proteins. you also need toned muscles to look more sexy and burn more calories. Follow my advice and don't do the opposite. Thanks.
