Years ago, something traumatic happened to me in a loud environment. One of the results is now I get very nervous & uncomfortable in loud settings. I can usually talk myself into remaining calm, & I wind up tolerating the current event, but the anxiety response that wells up is seemingly spontaneous. It's not social anxiety, as it can happen when I'm alone, but in a loud environment. Anyone else experience this? If so; how have you dealt with it?

Yeah, that doesn't sound like a mental health problem but a superior intelligence. :)

I am the same way. I like it quiet around me. I hardly turn on the TV or listen to the radio, even when I am alone. I prefer to sit and read, it seems to be calming to me. When I am in a place with a lot of noise, even in my husbands truck driving with the radio on, I usually turn my side of the speakers off and ask him to keep it low.

It is normal. It is called the flight reflex. You need to find some kind of feedback to calm yourself down. Sounds like you have a tad bit of anxiety.

When I had it I just forced myself to stick it out saying "I can do all things through Christ whom strengthens me"

You can do it just have a little faith in yourself. Just like you did as a kid when you thought a monster was under the bed.

Good luck!

can understand this- i had a stroke, and TLE as a result of the stroke- i cannot stand loud noise, or even the airconditioner- it is hard to keep my head up straight-
so i just try to live a noiseless life ! All the best for you

I avoid noisy places. I think most people dislike noise.

Do like I do, just ignore the noise. Like it isn't there, mostly if in the noise there is someone nagging about something.
