For me I think of Dancing with the Devil to mean so many different things but all negative. I think if I make choices that I know are not for my highest good than I am Dancing with the Devil. There have been times when I have met people and had a negative reaction to them but still continued to deal with them. That is Dancing with the Devil. Anytime I put myself in a situation that may not lead me to my highest good I know that I have chosen to Dance with the Devil. Let me make it clear that I do not believe in the Devil as a being but I use that term to mean anything that is negative to me and my spiritual growth. I also use the term "Something wicked this way comes" when I get that negative feeling. Could be a person or some issue that has come up.

If you commit offences towards your fellow human beings or the rest of the universe, you are dancing with the devil.
That is the proper dance with the devil. So watch your step everyday and do not try to harm someone. Repair any past offences if you can.
And that does not mean a murderer goes to start giving therapy sessions.
Or a child molester becomes a child therapist.
The dance with the devil will stop.

We all dance with the devil our whole lives. This is what we were intended to do. In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satin/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about satins role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the satin idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Why not, the devil (if there is , is a part of the creation, the whole of creation being attributed to the One creator !) should not have any problems, for, it seeks only the weak !

Would you dance with Devil in the pale moonlight?
quote from Batman - lol
Serioiusly though, I think it is anytime that we fool ourselves into flirting with evil and doing little sins. (Because little sins always lead to bigger ones.)
Hope that helps.
