Being in elementary school in the late 60s, there was the strap. On the hands, hard. My most unfavourite, though, was kneeling in the hallway, facing the brick wall or a statue of a saint. One time, I had to kneel on dry rice. When I was in Grade Two, I had bookbinding tape put across my mouth and my feet tied to my desk - for talking and not staying in my seat. I really wasn't "bad"....

I remeber that I had to sit where the coats and backpack rack was. My teacher put my desk there because I talked too much (this was in the 5th grade). I also remember in the 6th grade that I sat away from the class at the far end of the room next to a window. I made a little scratch in the frost that was in the window so I could look out side. Guess what I saw? 2 3rd graders acting like they were humping! gross.

I've been made to stand in the corner for not paying attention...I actually have a hearing loss which nobody would believe, and I just used to get bored out of my brain because I couldn't hear what was going on!

Also been whacked with the ruler and slipper and had chalk thrown at me....probably all deserved for playing up!

I never got in trouble at school, because if I did the punishment at home would be so much worse. I think schools would have fewer problems with discipline if parents had similar attitudes today.

The teacher thought I was talking in class, and it wasn't me-- She didn't beleive me---I was in 4th grade, so she had me get up in frount of the class. she send a kid to get a thick belt, and hit my hands hard till i cry, after the recess bell rung,so she made a circle on the black board and have me put my nose in the circle on the black board during the recess. I never forgot it, because I new i didn't do anything. This happen in 1962

that all depended on what I had done. Some times I got whupped (yes Whupped) with a belt or a switch, sometimes just the hand. And sometimes my mom would hit me from across the room with her shoe/flip-flop like it was a Chinese throwing star! LOL I've learned not to do all that with my Son!

We were paddled or we had to hold out the palm of our hand and the teacher would hit us hard with a ruler several times. I'm glad those days are over.

I honestly didn't get in trouble much in school - too compliant. But in second grade I attended an American school in Germany and we had a German teacher who came for one period daily. She hated me - I"m sure it must have been because of the boy who sat next to me. : ) Maybe because everyone at my table called her Frau Cow. She made me stand in the back of the classroom behind a portable chalk board.

I never got in trouble....

But I remember that my parents signed a permission slip every year allowing for paddling by the principle, if the need arose. I guess most of the time, it was just time out... I honestly don't remember!

We were spanked by the principal, forced to stand at the chalk board with our noses placed in the middle of a circle, if being to loud we had to sit in the coat closet, desk & all.
