By the looks of the south especially, Christians are NEVER fasting. Why don't they fast? Fasting is really good for you and your soul.

Fasting is not something you are do for a novelty, like "once in your lifetime" like preachers must recommend, but it should be done once a week/month, regularly practiced in your life, just like Jesus and all the apostles did and like they give enormous examples of how to do it in the bible.

I live in Louisiana. I fasted 9 days this passed February. I believe most people have fallen for the idea that it is bad for you. I, on the other hand, believe in the teachings of the bible. Fasting cleanses the body and allows a person to meditate more effectively. The bible also teaches that a person should conduct themselves in a manor that would not advertise there fasting. So how do you really know who is fasting and who is not.

This question looks like one that would come from someone who judges others on there appearance. This is a big problem in schools today. Children can be so mean hearted, not knowing any better. We need more love in our hearts today more than ever.
Where did you take your poll to see just how many people did fast? It tells us in the Bible that we should not let others know some things that are just between that person and God. You can look at the entire chapter 6 in Matthew and it also talks about prayer.
Matthew 6:18: That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Depends on the denomination if they practice fasting or not. Some do. Mormons fast once/month and donate the monies for the meals as a fast offering. It is used to donate supplies to areas like New Orleans after Katrina and other disasters/needs around the world.

What do you mean by the looks of the south? As in we are all fat or chubby, I will admit need to lose some pounds. I am from a southern state, and take offense to the term "by the looks of the south especially". If you are christian you are not supposed to judge other people.

Fasting is only a tiny aspect of being a Christian, loving the Lord with all our heart, might, strenght and soul and copying Christ's examples is all it takes to be a Christian.

Some do but others may not feel it is right for them, I think they are wrong and every christian should fast at least once in their life but others don't feel the same way.

Fasting is a personal choice, someone could fast for a day or for weeks. It depends on the persons relationship with Christ, and what HE wants us to do. If a person is big and they fast, I doubt they would lose 100lbs. or something.

uhm, i'm sure it's in the bible if jesus did it.
anyway, that's because they pick and choose what they'd like to do and not do. just look at all the millions of christian churches out there...each is different by half a degree (yes, we eat crackers, but we eat OYSTER crackers!! not like those stupid other sects). if you believe in jesus, do you really think he cares what kind of crackers you eat?

I know some that do fast,and they are very healthy. The people I know that fast are preparing to talk to God in prayer.
