In the book of Leviticus, chapter 11, v. 7, it is recorded that God declares the pig to be unclean for believers. Then, in verse 8, God says: “You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you”. This command is repeated in Deuteronomy 14:7-8. Then, in Isaiah 65:2-4, and 66:17, God issues a stern warning against those who eat pork.

Some people are aware of this prohibition from God, but they say that they can eat pork because St. Paul said that all food is clean in his letter to the Romans 14:20. St. Paul said this because he believed (as he wrote in his letter to the Ephesians 2:14-15) that Jesus had abolished the Law with all its commandments and regulations. He seems, however, to have misunderstood what he heard about Jesus. In the Gospel According to Matthew 5:17-20, Jesus is reported to have said quite the contrary, as follows: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law . . . ." Jesus then went on in that passage (in verse 19) to denounce anyone who would break the smallest commandment and teach others likewise. He also praised his true followers who will practice and teach even the smallest commandment. One of the commandment is to stay away from pork.

This is why the true followers of Jesus, holding on to his teachings, did not let unclean food such as pork enter their mouths, so that Peter, the chief disciple, can say, “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean” (Acts of the Apostles, ch. 10, v. 14)

Five chapters later in the Acts of the Apostles, 15:29, we find that the original disciples still differentiate between clean and unclean foods, and this time Paul is in agreement with them. Six chapters later, in ch. 21, v. 25, their decision to impose food regulations on believers is mentioned without regret, and this time Paul is challenged to prove that he is in agreement with them; and he demonstrated his full agreement with them.

I find your statements rather interesting because of the truth they contain.
It does seem, always has, that we are so quick to use the Law in order to condemn homosexuality and to cause tithes to come into the church yet we serve Pork on Easter.
As Christians we cry out that we are living under Grace.
Is that another way of saying I have no responsibility?
The law was compared to a school teacher as it instructs and guides. But how can we choose this law but not that one?
Are we to stone an unfaithful wife?
Are we to stone an unruly child?
While it may be that those practices would alleviate most of the problem I can't believe that Jesus would want us to do that.
Since you mentioned the dietary laws allow me to interject that the diet of choice in the medical community is the Mediterranean diet, which very closely follows the diet in the Bible.
I myself don't eat pork or shell fish.
I figure the manufacturer may know more about what is good for me than myself.

Please note that this was required by God of His people in the Old Testament.
He set up many laws to keep His people pure. As pigs were seen as animals that
ate garbage etc. God called them unclean. Pigs/pork was not an acceptable sacrifice for the attonement for sins. However, in the New Testament, this law was "lifted." Because of Jesus' death on the cross (and resurrection), sacrifices were no longer needed as Jesus was the final sacrifice and faith in Him was the only way man could be pure before God. It was no longer necessary for God's people to leave by these strict rules. God declares this once unclean food clean in the following passage in a dream to Peter.
Check Acts 11:4-10
"4Peter began and explained everything to them precisely as it had happened:
5"I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was. 6I looked into it and saw four-footed animals
of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air. 7Then I heard a voice telling me, 'Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.'
8"I replied, 'Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.'
9"The voice spoke from heaven a second time, 'Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.' 10This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again."

Well, Jesus was the end of the Law, and Jesus said that the greatest commands were to "Love the Lord, you God with all you heart, soul, and mind, and t love your neighbor as yourself."

More on the line with impure or unclean foods, Acts 10:15- The voice (God) spoke t him for a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

In these verses he is talking about things strangled, which means animals that were killed without the shedding of blood. There are many ordinances or laws in the Old Testament that were only types and shadows of spiritual things.

When Jesus brought in the New Covenant of Grace, a lot of those things became of no importance. He brought to us a new and living way to worship Him--from the heart with love.

Do you remember where the Pharisees complained to Jesus that the disciples didn't wash their hands? Matthew 15. Jesus didn't condemn his disciples. I believe there are man made laws, natural laws, and God's laws.

Here's the deal. As a Christian, I know that I'm assured of salvation if I believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and died for my sins. There is no clause that states that my salvation is revoked if I eat pork. So, I'm not going to obsess and stress out that I may have misunderstood the law regarding pork. In the big picture of things, it's just not important.

in the starting up no longer all Christians do eat pink meat. the reason many Christians forget concerning the passage interior the old testomony has to do with a narrative interior the hot testomony, were God tells the apostle Peter that it truly is okay to eat some thing. Many have used this as justification to eat some thing it fairly is forbidden interior the old testomony. you'll stumble on the tale in Acts 10. Many Christians nonetheless avert pink meat, because it isn't as healthy of a meat to eat or because the nonetheless attempt to keep each and every of the old rules.

Try reading Acts 10: 9-16 you will find what is made clean by the Lord is clean. You are picking certain things to suit your case as does everyone else. Paul said if it offend another he would not eat it in front of them. This could place a stumbling block in front of them. So to be careful of what you did so it would offend none.

Wow, someone did their homework!
Excellent job at proving your point, however I doubt people will be rushing to throw out their ham and porkchops anytime soon. Unfortunately people get stuck in a routine, and when chance comes upon them to change or to better themselves, they refuse the offer. Others see it as tradition that they got used to so why bother changing it now? You make a great case, it's just unfortunate that it will fall on deaf ears.
Never stop searching.

Maybe the 'pig' got lost in translation. anyway, we all know that eating pork, or meat, for that matter can cause a lot of health problems and eating organic vegetables is a healthier alternative. see, science and religion DOES go hand in hand :)
